have to tell you, i never expected to hear this, never
ESPN is reporting that the Celtics are again fishing with Rajon Rondo as bait. I do not know how much of this is true or not, but they offered Rondo and Ray Allen to the Pistons for a big chunk of their lineup. This is reportedly the 2nd or 3rd time that Boston has done this since the playoffs. ESPN claims that Rondo is giving his coach problems, and that combined with his contract expiring at the end of next season he has become a liability for Boston.
Celtics will rue the day if they deal Rondo. Rondo is a premier PG, he nearly averaged a triple double in the playoffs. A PG of Rondo's caliber doesn't come along very often at all...

I think they come around a lot more than you'd have us believe. Gee, didn't he go to UK?

did you not see him play in the playoffs? he was downright unguardable many times
word is that they will trade ray allen and rajon rondo for richard hamilton and tayshaun prince. who in the world is going to play PG then? I heard the celtics are trying to trade up to the #2 pick, that's the only way this trade would make any sense to me, and even then they arent going to get a PG who is going to be able to play right away. but danny ainge said today they are unlikely to move up in the draft, so the question yet again is who in the world is going to play PG? eddie house isn't a pg, hamilton isnt a pg, no way stephon marbury can play major minutes at PG...

I've tried in the past, it's boring as hell making blog posts of my original thoughts. I'd much rather just talk about them with someone and have an actual conversation. Those kind of blogs have zero interest to me. Pretty much the only blogs I go to that have any substantial original thought are a few Kentucky blogs, and lord knows there are enough out there as it is, no need adding another one. Mostly all the blogs I go to just post links to articles and other assorted stuff, or they just post news items - which I don't really consider original thought. I'm not like these Twitter folks who think everyone in the world needs to know what they are doing and thinking 24 hours a day...

I'm just going to let that statement sit right there.

and this is why you don't trade rondo:
Since the NBA began keeping steals as an official stat in the 1973-74 season, Rajon Rondo is one of only 4 players ever to record this stat line in a single season: a minimum of 11 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and shot at least 50% overall. Who are the other three? Magic Johnson (who did it 4 times), Michael Jordan, and Chris Paul.
Take away the field goal percentage, and he is one of only 11 players to have that stat line.
Since the shot clock era (which began in 1954), if you just take the points, rebounds, and assists, that stat line has only been achieved by 19 players - which includes a few flooks like the year when Wilt Chamberlain decided to prove to everyone that he can pass the ball and averaged about 8.5 or so assists a game, for example.
Considering the shot clock has been in use for over 50 years now, and there have been that few players to achieve such a statistical level, I have to say that classifies Rondo as a caliber of player that doesn't come around all that often, and he is likely to only get better.

We're all glad you reminded us why you don't trade a player that none of us care about.

rondo is a good player...but i think he is blessed to be where he is and would not be nearly as effective if he wasn't playing for the celtics

Rondo just threw up 29 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists against the Cavs and was first-team all-defensive. Like I said, he is an elite PG, none of you believed me though...

No, no they don't.

rondo is much better then I have been willing to give him credit for...
with that said, is there really any question the magic is the best team in the east???

They are very good, their opponents thus far in the playoffs haven't been all that good though. Heck, Charlotte was a better playoff opponent than the Hawks and Charlotte was just a slightly above average team during the regular season.

maybe so..but i think orlando's defense has a lot to do with making atlanta look so bad...even the best teams have a hard time going undefeated this far into the playoffs no matter who they are playing...
they are focused and determined to prove to everybody last year was not a fluke...and this year's team IS better then last years team without a doubt...I am not saying they are guaranteed to win the east...but they are peaking at the right time and will give either boston or cleveland all they can handle...
everything is setting up the same way it happened last year...everybody is doubting the magic..and even I was doubting the magic last year..but this year they are improves, especially defensively...and a healthy jameer nelson is HUGE for them...I just can't wait for the eastern finals...the playoffs will finally begin...
