...that fake grass can't grow right. Now LC's 2-year old turf field is getting replaced. FWIW...same company as did Williams Stadium.
Lynchburg College's Shellenberger Field may only be two years old, but due to improper installation and a defective product the field will be torn up, renovated and replaced with a better version of field turf this summer.http://media.www.critograph.com/media/s ... ailedition
The current turf on Shellenberger has four main problems; the first of which is that the turf fibers are not staying straight like they should, but are laying over which affects the field's play and causes a glare off the field that ruins game footage. The fibers of the field are also breaking off more often and more easily than they should and the seams of the field that hold different sections of the field together are coming apart. Lastly, the problem most impactful on LC's teams is the fact that the field is not draining nearly as quickly as it is supposed to. Director of Physical Plant Dave Fisher and Project Engineer Jay Jennings said the first three problems are a result of a defective product while the improper draining is due to incorrect installation of the stone base material under the field.
