If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

The ODAC is holding its tourney at City Stadium starting tomorrow and running through Sunday. Make wise-cracks as you please, but you are going to see some legit D1 talent playing in the tournament this week. Games start daily at 11 AM and run through 9-10 PM. Lynchburg College is the top seed.

Hey...I opened myself up for it. Unlike many of the other D3 sports...you will have baseball teams that may well be able to compete (on occasion) with a D1 squad. LC, in particular, is ranked quite high in NCAA D3several stats...namely #1 in Sac Bunts, #1 in fewest BB/9 IP, #5 in ERA...with several players ranked top 50 in several categories.

Thanks...and I knew you were messing...heck...I set myself up for it. I had the same uneducated and misguided perception about D3 baseball until 2 1/2 years ago. 8)

Nice write-up in today's paper:
Lynchburg College defended its regular-season title and received the top seed for the six-team, four-day Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament that begins today at City Stadium.

The Hornets (25-12, 14-4 ODAC) take the field in the opener at 11 a.m. against sixth-seeded Washington & Lee. The rest of the first day schedule has second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan playing fifth-seeded Hampden-Sydney at 3 p.m. and third-seeded Randolph-Macon facing fourth-seeded Bridgewater at 7 p.m.

In just about any D3 sport, many of the top 10-20 teams can compete with the bottom 150 DI teams. The chances of them winning aren't huge, but for example, Mary Washington's men's tennis beat Richmond and George Mason and was competitive with us and Longwood.

Now, with that said, GO TIGERS!!!! Gotta support the hometown team

Why Fumble is especially interested in LC baseball...
The Hornets rank third in the conference in runs scored and boast the third-best batting average in the ODAC behind Guilford and Bridgewater.

LC hit .331 as a team and slugged .441.

Eight of the Hornets’ nine regulars hit at least .291. Sophomore second/third baseman Jordan Watkins led the way with a .436 batting average followed by left fielder Jeff Taylor (Heritage), who hit .388 and stole 27 bases.
