This proves my point about Ben Roselburger. He is a women!! (No offense to the cool women we have on here) He's always got to make himself look like superman. I played with a fractured ribs!! Nobody knew it... I didn't know it until Thursday after the Superbowl... Whatever!! Every year this guy makes up a injury to make himself look tough. Drives me crazy!

ok, it's getting more and more difficult to be down on the guy, but hall of fame? No. But yes, he is a bit of a drama queen. Steve Young tactfully called him out on that a couple days before the super bowl.

Doesn't mean I have to like him. And that first ring was not his doing - the guy was horrible in that game.

I don't disagree that he's not a good player - he just has something about him I can't stand. He's cocky. He's arrogant. He's always laying excuses, just in case he fails.

Ben did not play worth crap in his first super bowl, but if I recall, he had a VERY good game in the AFC final when they beat the mighty Patriots to get there.

Probably a little early to talk hall of fame, but he is certainly on track for it. Is there a QB who has won 2 Super Bowls and is not in?

Is he lying about the broken ribs? I don't think so, and he did not miss a down in the game against Baltimore after they were broken. Before the Super Bowl, when the rumors were flying about him being injured, all I recall him saying was he was fine and he was playing.

Championship game QB in 3 of first 5 years in league, two Super Bowl rings and contrary to RTF's memory, played significant roles in the Steelers' upset wins over the Bengals, Colts and Broncos heading toward his first Super Bowl ring. HOF voters will remember how he willed his team to victory on the biggest stage, and in the best Super Bowl of all, and in a year where during the season, led team on six come from behind drives to victory. And he's still young.

What did I remember incorrectly? Oldflame said they beat the "mighty Patriots" to get to the Super Bowl that year. In fact, it was Denver that beat the "mighty Patriots" the week before Jake Plummer suddenly reverted to Arizona Cardinals-esque state and turned the ball over four times against the Steelers. Believe me, it's burned indelibly into my memory.

Championships do play a part in the voting, but it is just so based on numbers. I guess if Tomlin sticks with passing a bit more than previous Steelers teams his numbers might look better but up until now his lack of attempts was abysmal. If I recall, his first superbowl year he averaged something like 15 attempts per game. Next year I assume Mendenhall will be healthy. That would play into them running more.

In my opnion (and contrary to my liking I don't get a vote for the HOF) he's a very good QB in their system (in other words he keeps broken plays alive and their receivers get open) but other than that he's very mediocre. He doesn't turn it over much anymore. But take any other QB from other teams and gear him up on the Steelers and I bet there are a bunch who would do better. The Steelers have a history of making QBs look good with their system, almost like Denver does with RBs. Neil O'Donnell. Kordell Stewert. Tommy Maddox. Charlie Batch. All of these guys suck but played well enough and led the Steelers to the playoffs.

Yea, Big Ben's just mediocre. Everyone knows Kordell Stewart and Charlie Batch are just as good.
Shoot, when Stewart wasn't crying on the sidelines he was well known for delivering a strke past three defenders in the corner of the end zone to win the Super Bowl.

And Batch - the way he could evade defensive ends in a mad rush was something that should have been set to music. The system made him that good.

i love big ben. he is hard to bring down, very elusive, and is a very accurate passer. i don't take the tough run first offense as a knock on him. if he had to throw the ball 40 times a game his numbers would be gawdy.

he had a rough year in the int/td area but he got it done.

i'll fry for saying this but if he can control his int's going forward and holmes establishes as a top 10 wr in the nfl, he will put up similar #'s to montana.

his numbers are very similar for first year #'s. (minus 20 more ints)

Exactly. Stewart had one nice regular season but withered when the big stage came to town. Big Ben on the other hand...well...is half way to winning four Super Bowls and play in six championship games over a 10 year career.

Anyone want to seriously compare him to the likes of Stewart, O'Donnell, Batch etc?

i guess i will give him a pass because the bungles get beat up everytime they play the steelers. proto..who do you like?? big ben did play bad in his first super bowl, but played pretty darn good against the cards and in the playoffs for that matter. was his regular season great?? no. does he have a great o-line no. some QB's would make excuses..not ben. mallet was dead on in his analysis of big ben. i do not get the cocky reference. he just plays hard and wins and has two rings. end of story

old predictable smoothie. I'm a whiny hater bengals fan. Honestly, I seriously dislike most anybody on the steelers. I may hate the steelers more than I actually like any team. I can, however, put my personal feelings aside when judging players. And they have a ton of all-star talent. You could pretty much choose any other position on the Steelers team and I could go on about how great it is. Ben is good at certain things. However I think there are many QBs in the league, that when put in his place would do even better. The only thing that separates him from many others are the Ws and Ls. He makes the playoffs every year and wins there too. I guess you could use a mindless sportsism and say "he just knows how to win". I, on the otherhand, would say that the Steelers traditionally are very good, and get to play 25% of their schedule vs the Bengals and Browns every year and more because of that vs Ben's mysterious uncanny magical ability to win. The guy was 24th in the league in passer rating. Are the other 23 QBs in front of him headed to the HOF too? 4th in total INTs. 21st in completion percentage.

It's hard to say, a lot of those receivers were open because he was scrambling in the backfield on a few of those plays. A better QB may have made a quicker throw. You never can tell. But lets not act like he's the first QB to ever run the 2 minute drill. I believe Eli Manning did it last year. Is he going to the Hall?
