Facility on its way up
Construction of CCU's Adkins Field House begins after long wait
By Josh Hoke - jhoke@thesunnews.com

The expansion of Coastal Carolina's Brook Stadium began Monday when construction opened on the long-awaited Adkins Field House.
The $8.5-million, 55,400-square-foot facility will house a football locker room, a weight room, meeting rooms and athletic offices in the stadium's north end zone. The project includes the addition of 1,620 end zone seats, pushing the stadium's capacity to almost 9,000.
Construction is expected to take 12 to 15 months, meaning the facility should be usable by May 2010, said Mark Avant, a project manager with the school's Office of Facilities Planning & Management.

There's also rumors about a student recreation center including a 3500 seat gym for basketball. THAT will happen when it actually freezes over.

Mercer did the same thing. Its a really nice little arena. Its a cool concept and would be nice if coastal stepped it up and got it done for the sake of the conference. But then again i don't want them to be able to recruit as well as we do so... lets hope it all takes awhile.

It is great to see somebody in the Big South besides VMI trying to invest in their football facilities besides LU. For the league to improve, CCU needs to step up its game and it appears they are beginning to do so.

This building is their combination of Hancock and the FOC and it was much needed over what they have currently.
