Big South to unveil new enhanced logo on July 28th at the football media day...

That'll take us to the next level, I'm sure.

Let's hope KK has been working on more than this the past few months.

And I guess we might have to make some changes to Proto's new floor.

that's exactly what I was just thinking. We just put it on the floor. I always thought the BS logo was pretty sharp looking. Not to fancy but recognizable.

Why did Barber get fired or quit ALREADY? Or do you mean pre-Barber or PB as we like to call it

sorry. i did mean pre barber.

Barber was talking about the new logo when I did the Q&A ... he wanted the Big South to get him the logo pronto so he wouldn't have to paint the football field and basketball courts twice. I haven't seen it, but I think LU already has a copy just for those purposes.

so maybe that's what's already on the court. I mentioned that it didn't look right. Maybe the logo change is just a subtle font change

I got news for the Big South - changing the floor is not going to be an option. Unless they want to fork out another $40K and find us another month long break in the Vines to do it - the last floor took 2 and 1/2 years to get that time.

Good Luck - maybe Big South should change their name too, and their leadership, and their philosophy, and their teams, and their approach. OK - it's a lost cause - maybe the Big South can look at bringing some kind of value to the member schools first - before playing with the look of the logo.

Oh, come on, Proto! The logo is the I Ching! The end all be all! The ad infinitum! The Logo is the most important thing an organization can have! Empires have risen and fallen based solely on the font differences in their logo! Have you ever heard of the Polish Empire? Me neither! Nobody remembers them because they drew up their name in 15pt Goudy when they should have gone w/ a 20pt Copperplate Gothic! In fact, not many people know this, but the single moment that caused the fall of the Roman Empire was when the Senate voted to change the symbol of the Roman Legion from a majestic eagle to that of a honey-glazed ham! Do you honestly think the LU women would have gone to the Sweet 16 last year if the Big South still had that bonsai tree and sunset logo? It would have been into the sunset for us and yet another winter of heavy drinking at the Green household, that's what!
Does everyone on this board really think that the Big South Conference has something more important on their plate than the subtle nuances of The Logo? You may as well ask them to find us another member for football or help promote inter-conference tournaments or solidify the conference's membership or some other such trivial matter! I mean, really!

eh, it's ok. I like the old one better. But I thought the old one looked sharp in the first place.

also, I'm very happy that our 3 month old paintjob, that took us years to get, is already outdated.

i agree. the old logo is better.

The new one is fine. There isn't too much of a difference between the two.

WOW - I didn't think it was possible to get worse!! They amaze me again. Brands are important, why do people let freelancers handle the most impotant aspect of their business. - and they choose to make it worse.

Kalander: "Let's see what should our new logo look like. Hey, what is this "i" button? Italics? What's that? WOW! We have a winner!"

What's the single worst element you could add to a logo to make it look unconscionably stupid? At this point, I'd have to say that element is an orange stripe.

Posted: July 28th, 2006, 9:55 am
by thesportscritic
all they did was stretch the orange stripe out. it is pitiful and they were not creative at all.

Wow, this logo blows me away. It is 99% like the other one it seems. What is the big change? That nifty powder blue background? What is going on here. Someone got paid big bucks to play with the font for 5 seconds. WOW what a joke.

Funniest quote of the whole article (also: we want what Kallander is smoking)
“The Big South membership is very interested in maximizing the Conference brand,” added Kallander. “The loyalty that has developed within this League has been gratifying to see. There is a growing pride amongst our members that had not been as evident before the past few years. Displaying and wearing the Big South logo is now more a badge of honor. That is why the enhanced logo will be much more prevalent throughout our membership.”
REEEEEEEEEALLY?
