broke the Kentucky school record for points in a game and threes in a game (10). was 15-22 from the field, 10-15 from three, 14-14 from FT line. Dan Issel had the record with 53 against mississippi state. brad nessler said it's the best performance he has ever seen in his 17-18 years at espn. jimmy dykes says he should be in discussion for national player of the year.

That was unreal...I dont follow KY basketball like you do...what was his PPG before and what is it now?

He was already having a great year. 5th leading scorer in the nation and averaging about 25 a game. He must have added about 2 ppg to his average.

it was 24.2, fifth in the nation. now it's 25.9

most points since by an SEC player since Chris Jackson scored 55. UT was favored to win by 7 and won by 18 to snap UT's 16 game hone SEC winning streak.

he also added in eight rebounds, four assists, just one turnover, just two fouls, and played some awesome defense

wow...only a 1 point difference....I was hoping it was someone who only scores 13 a game or something....but I guess even then this late into the season it wouldnt have changed all that much

earlier this season he scored 39 against VMI, 37 vs. kansas state, 46 vs. applalachian state (now 7th most in UK history), 32 against tennessee state (must like playing against those tennnessee schools), and 28 vs. louisville.

wow...I hope KY can land more big TV games...I'd like to watch him (without searching the 700's for them )

as long as kentucky takes care of business against UGA, it will be a crime if they aren't in the top 25. they now have four quality RPI wins, west virginia (on realtime RPI they have a $$ to mark it as an especially quality win), lamar (that will most likely change), vanderbilt, and now tennessee. thats two more quality wins than notre dame (which also has one bad loss, UK doesn't on realtimerpi), one more quality win than ucla and purdue has, the same amount of quality wins as wake forest and villanova, and only one less quality win that pitt, unc, cal, georgetown, syracuse, minnestoa, texas, marquette, and michigan.

UK is on TV a lot this year, because, well, they are UK. they could be a god awful team and still get a lot of tv games, look at indiana this year for example and when UNC sucked during the doherty years. patrick patterson can also put on one heck of a show, but he didn't have to tonight and he's suffering from a strained ligament on his shooting hand so that limited him some today.

sportscenter just said his 68.2 FG% is 3rd-highest by any player in the last 10 seasons during a 50-pt game

meeks is now shooting 47.9% overall, 44.4% from three, and 91.4% from the charity stripe (he's only missed 10 free throws all season). that's is just absolutely ridiculous. shooting 44.4% from the three point line and teams know that's the shot he's going to shoot over 50% of the time!

The 54 points were also the most scored by any player in the history of Thompson-Boling. Former LSU standout Chris Jackson had 49 in 1990.

Not a record, but interesting fact...
Meeks put together the 21st-highest individual scoring performance in SEC history. It was also the most since Shaquille O'Neal scored 53 against Arkansas State in 1990.

what's that have to do with pistol pete though? the money was flowing even more freely at UCLA during the Wooden era - just look up the name Sam Gilbert. Bill Walton even slipped up once on and said that one of the players during the Wooden era had to take a paycut when he went to the NBA because of Sam Gilbert, who was eventually banned from being able to do anything with ncaa athletics.
