I made a stupid playoff system. Seriously BCS is gawdawful and needs to get the axe

Anyway here it goes:
24 Teams(11 Conference bids, 13 At large) -also allow for the possibility of setting benchmarks with # of DI-A wins (7? 8? - that knocks out Troy)

All the Teams get seeded
Top 8 get 1st Rd Byes
Setup Selection Committee - 1 Member from each conference with the Head being an NCAA Rep(yes I still hate UMass)
Selection show would be Dec 7(Sunday after Championships Round)
Playoffs would take 5 weeks, starting Dec 13(a week after Championships Round)
Dec 13 would have Teams 9-24 play each other, seeded just like a 1-16.

Winners are then reseeded, just like the NFL, where the #1 team(Titans or Giants) get the worst seed remaining. This is the only reseeding time though.

Dec 20 starts a second round of 16, Dec 27 - 8, and so on.
As for TV reasons(NFL playoffs) the Championship game would have to get moved. Maybe Sunday 7PM (Assuming NFL would move the 4:30 down to 4)

Bubble status would be somewhere in the 18-21 mark, so condisering there are 119 teams its not all that bad.

12/13

24) Troy(pending the minimum DI rule)(SunBelt champ)
9) Boise State (WAC champ)

23) Buffalo(MAC champ)
10) Ohio State

22) East Carolina(CUSA champ)
11) Texas Christian

21) Northwestern
12) Cincinnati(Big East champ)

20) Virginia Tech(ACC champ)
13) Oklahoma State

19) Pittsburgh
14) Georgia Tech

18) Michigam State
15) Oregon

17) Georgia
16) BYU

Teams with byes:
1)Oklahoma
2)Florida
3)Texas
4)Alabama
5)USC
6)Utah
7)Texas Tech
8)Penn State

Any serious consideration for a playoff needs to incorporate the tradition of the bowls. This was an obstacle that seemed difficult to overcome 15-20 years ago when the majority of the major bowl games were played on January 1st. Today, the bowls are all spread out over a period of a couple weeks.

I think this would be a great project for one of the SMGT classes to have group presentations of their ideas for a FBS playoff system.

The biggest obstacle to the implementation of a playoff system is the financial windfall to the major conferences.

And thats where dum ideas come up like having sponsors for each of the games, although Im not against it. The major bowl games are trouble though. The issue isnt so much when they would be, like from 8-4. but the real issue is where its played. with 4 games you cant put them in a good spot until the 8-4 games, but then you go neutral home neutral? Idk.

You could make 2 more bowls have the same significance as the Rose Bowl, but then youd have the National Champs winners of also the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl.
