So the entire league is going to take a year off. Too many teams weren't coming back next year, so they're going to use next season to reorganize. I blame Mike & Mike.

Now if we could just get hockey to do it again... that was the best year of sports ever.

I went to an AFL2 game in Greensboro many years ago and quickly found out why it's not that popular. GBoro was down 70-something to 0 at halftime. They ended up losing by triple digits.

This probably opens the doors for the UFL to pick up some talent, though.

It's not like hockey takes up any room on ESPN anymore, so if it's not bothering you, then leave it alone and let us Canadians enjoy our sport. :P

It takes up at least 3 of the top 10 plays every day and they all look the same in different colored jerseys... Ive had enough!

Hockey players are better athletes than baseball players, and the sport is more exciting than baseball... they should get rid of baseball and move hockey to that time of year. :P

Get rid of them both and make football and basketball year round.

I like Hockey and this is from some one raised in the deep south. The AFL will not come back next year if I was a bettting man.

HMO's mention of AFL2 really sums up the problem with this league..they had a good little thing going and then they decided it would be such a good idea to expand and have feeder leagues for what essentially is a feeder league for the NFL...they stretched themselves too thin and started losing way too much money

I have never been to a game, but everybody I have ever talked to that has been to an Orlando Predators game says nothing but good things about it...and I have always wanted to check it out...but it really looks like this league is done with

I'll bet they come back with a more streamlined version in a year. The financial model was bad but the product is not the issue. Attendance is OK even with the inflated prices. Television contracts disappearing it was is forcing this move.

And yes, Arena games are a blast similar to NHL games. Neither translate well to television and both charge way too much for their ducats.

You guys have obviously never played or really watched hockey. Otherwise, you would love it.

Never played, but I've watched both on tv and in person.

Actually, I had a lot of fun at some Hurricanes games in Raleigh a couple of years ago. Although, I was in the private/club seats eating BBQ, chicken tenders, & some times steak. That might have changed my perception of the game.

I love hockey. I do think that the NHL should move their season and compete with baseball. Baseball is BORING compared to hockey!!

I thoroughly enjoy the Arena League...Its nice to have football to watch after the Super Bowl...(heck remember when I had a chance to go to the Arena Bowl last summer?) I guess I'll just have to watch more hockey to fill the time before the NFL preseason in 09)
