If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Box Score: http://gomason.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl ... hib01.html

As you will notice from the stats, GMU's top players got virtually all of the playing time, so this wasn't a case of GMU dogging the game and playing their scrubs.

Also, D3 Hampden-Sydney College beat D1 Longwood tonight as well according to the SID at HSC. It was only a scrimmage, so no release or official score exist for it.

That's good stuff. I don't think the day is anywhere close where LC can even step on the same court with the Flames, though.
(Baseball, perhaps...but not hoops 8) )

I have reffed with two of the guys that called that game. The other guy I've never reffed with, but I know him quite well.

LC lost to Massanutten on Tuesday night. I know, because I worked that game. I really like the coaching staff at LC.

Randolph-Macon is in Ashland, near Richmond.

Randolph College is in Lynchburg. They have only had one season of men's basketball.

LC's two best players were out of that game due to injury. I heard we sucked, but that tends to happen when you're two best players are out, especially when you have virtually no depth because the previous coach decided to throw in the towel midway through the season...

Yeah, you could tell they were not hitting on all cylinders. The new coaching staff will turn things around. They seem to have the right attitude.

I guess the GMU fans feel a touch of what us LU football fans felt last week!

Except that was an EXHIBITION game i.e. it doesn't count.

I've seen a few practices and their first scrimmage against Hargrave's postgrad team. Obviously we lost the scrimmage, but what I saw on the court was a heck of a lot better than what I saw from the previous regime. The new coaching staff has received a glamorous report from all the players I have talked to as well as the rest of the athletic department. The previous coach, well lets just say about the only fans at LC you could find for him was his fiance.

I don't think any fan of a D1 school would want to live with the fact that there team lost to a D3 squad rather it was an exhibition or a regular season game.

I understand that, but it's much different losing in an exhibition game rather than losing in a game that cost your team a chance at the playoffs.

Well we did lose to D2 Barton in an exhibition a couple years ago

I am greatly anticipating the faceoff between LU and GMU. Should be a great game. It better be.

chalk up another W for a D3 team over a D1 team
Senior guard Michael Penson scored 16 points, including 10 in a row in the final two minutes to give Mississippi College the lead and senior forward Richard Worthy hit two free throws with 4.7 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Choctaws, 85-81 in an exhibition win Monday night at D-I Alcorn State.

Randolph Macon usually has a bunch of shooters. I used to play pickup games here in Richmond with a couple of former Randy Mac players. Great win for their program. Mason must be seriously down though or Macon must have shot lights out. Mason is a CAA top tier team year in and year out. They don't lose to Non division 1's That is huge. I am looking forward to that LU Mason game too. Coach Laranaga is a friend of mine. He used to come on my talk show back when I lived in NOVA. I called my 1st TV game at the Patriot Center vs JMU back when Sherman Dillard was the coach at JMU.
