The Noguts already had Billups and McD. At least they are trying something instead of standing pat. On a side note, I saw Billups play here in high school. He is by far the best local product of all time! We don't have a huge selection here in CO.

If this move by the Pistons is just to clear cap space at the end of the year to get younger, I'm all for it. Iverson and Rasheed Wallace will clear $35 million off the Pistons cap if they are not brought back (which I doubt they will be).

Iverson is a good fit for Detroit. Not the team, I mean, the city... There are a million thugs in Detroit, so Iverson will fit in nicely (and with Rasheed Wallace, to boot).

Of course, it'll give the team something to rally around (and their certainly not warming up to Jon Kitna & the Lions)

It has to be a cap move. They have a solid young group with Stuckey, Prince, and Maxiell. They have to be looking for '10 when Wade, LeBron and Chris Bosh could hit the free agent market.

The wild card is if Kobe uses his option and terminates after this season. I don't see him going anywhere and the Lakers can give him more money than anyone else--but it wouldn't shock me to see him explore the waters.

Word is that the Nuggets are going to buy out McD and he will go back to Detroit. Denver is in talks with Marbury. Why?

The Nuggets are expected to waive the 34-year-old McDyess, ESPN.com's Chad Ford reports. McDyess has no interest in playing for any team other than the Pistons, meaning he could choose to retire or negotiate a contract buyout with Denver.

At the time I posted it, it was true according to a report on rotoworld.com at 9:27 pm monday:

The Rocky Mountain News reports that Denver intends to keep Antonio McDyess after acquiring him in Monday's trade.
Several reports had indicated that he would be bought out before ever wearing a Nuggets jersey, but the paper's source was Rex Chapman, Denver's vice president of player personnel. McDyess would likely be Denver's first big man off the bench. His departure is a boon to the value of Pistons forwards Jason Maxiell and Amir Johnson.

Of course, that has obviously changed since then, but at the time I said it wasn't true it was in fact not true based on media reports.

According to the Rocky Mtn News this morning the Nuggets are negotiating a buyout of McD's contract even as we speak.
