Frank Beamer didn't surprise too many people today when he announced that fifth-year senior Sean Glennon will be Virginia Tech's starting quarterback in Saturday’s opener against East Carolina. The stunner came when Beamer also unveiled his plan to redshirt Tyrod Taylor, who had battled Glennon to a near-tie throughout August camp.

That's a brilliant move...as I am one of the Hokies fans who feel this is going to be a relative rebuilding year...and the difference Taylor would bring MIGHT mean the difference between a 3 or a 4 loss season...neither which will get them in the ACC title game.

I don't know if I like Glennon back there this season. Tech's receiver situation is DIRE and having Taylor's ability to make a play with his legs gives up the one up on Glennon. Without a proven RB or WR on the roster, there are certainly going to be some growing pains.

Ugh...Beamer is thinking twice about that decision after Glennon single-handedly lost the game for the Hokies today.

What an awful performance from Glennon. I've never seen a quarterback who doesn't like to throw the ball.

glennon will get one more chance, if he isnt GOOD, and I mean GOOD, I imagine tyrod taylor will be doing more than just practicing after the hokies second game. that's if he isn't suiting up for next week, which I think is at least a 50/50 situation at this point.

An early loss to ECU nearly puts Tech out of contention this year. Wasting Tyrod's redshirt would be pointless...take your lumps, even with backup Holt if you have too, and move on to next year.

true, you never know. the top team now, georgia, could very well lose 1-2 games or more with that slaughter house of a schedule they have to play.

They blocked a punt and returned it to the house. Glennon didn't single handedly lose this game. But he did suck and I'm so glad to see Tech lose.
