If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Interesting article if the Big XII submits "two champions," to the playoff committee...they may face pressure from the other four in the P5 to add members for a championship game. If that happens, spots could open up for us very quickly in the Sunbelt and CUSA.
I think this is key for our chances. If the Big 12 goes to 12 teams, our chances improve significantly.

I think the other P5's will pressure them into a championship game. Depending on divisional break down you would have a combination of KSU TCU and Baylor playing tomorrow

Who would the Big 12 take? BYU is available as an indy, which wouldn't open up anything for us. Cincy, Houston, SMU, UConn, etc...would probably all submit their applications. Best case scenario, IF the Big 12 expands, they take three teams who are alreaqdy members of another conference.

Cincy, Cincy, Cincy.

The other option that I know has been thrown out there is USF.

SMU has absolutely no chance of getting into the Big12. Houston probably doesn't either, but if the Big12 adds a school from Texas, Houston is the front-runner.

What pressure if any can the other P5 conferences really put on the Big12 to expand? PAC12, and BIG10 both raided them. ACC is weak, and the SEC made a deal to play them every post season in a new years eve bowl. I would go tell those other conferences to pound sand. There is absolutely no benefit financially or competitively by adding two teams. The Big 12 will distribute about $213 million to its 10 schools this year. Eight will receive $23 million each. From a competitive stand point there is no team of value worth adding.

I think Texas likes not having to play a conference championship game, and what Texas wants is what the conference will do.

IF somehow they are forced to expand I think Cinci, BYU, San Diego State, Boise State, and USF would be my guesses. All for different reasons. I don't think they add another Texas or Oklahoma school. They are looking for new markets to expand into.

Who the BIG12 really wants is FSU, and Clemson. But ACC exit fees are $50 Million, plus schools have to give up certain media rights too. Basically making the incoming school worthless to the Big12.

Not saying you are wrong. I thought it was a horrible move at first, but when you look at the landscape where else could they have gone?

When the Big XII adds two teams, I think that it will be BYU and Cincinnati. UConn will beg for the Big XII to take them, but the distance is too great.

Conference USA isn't happening. They're going to look west and look to the Sun Belt. UAB was moving to the west division next year which leaves the east division set.

JMU also won't be getting a call from CUSA.

With that said, I've always wanted to have success at this level before moving up. I'm a fan of FCS football more than Sun Belt level football.

There may be a few who have reacted to the last couple of weeks by jumping on the FCS bandwagon, but let's not lump SJ in that group. He has been consistent in his position and has said many times he would prefer we have a higher level of success at the FCS level first and wait for the best fit in in an FBS conference as opposed to basically begging for a chance and jumping at the first opportunity. I would tend to agree with him, but the problem is it appears to conflict with Doc's BHAG, and achieving that is obviously very important to JR. I really don't think it does, because when he talked about it, he usually did it in terms of playing teams like Notre Dame, and I don't think the Irish have scheduled any SBC teams lately.

Plus Notre Dame has been over rated over the last decade so we'd have more of a shot now if we moved up than when Doc originally made his statement

I'm not sure how likely/unlikely the waiver would be for a championship, but I do know that the Big 12 will have a championship game either way.
Waiver= No expansion
No Waiver= two teams added. (Not sure who, but the trickle down effect would work heavily in our favor.

As I was watching the Conference USA champ game yesterday, I wondered how the Sun Belt felt that they received No attention yesterday. Where they waiting to see what the Big 12 does?

On ESPN some of the talking heads said B12 will seek an exempt for CCG and remain at 10 member. More money to be split among 10 members vs 12. I don't see them expanding or the NCAA wanting to let them expand.
