If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Good point. I haven't worked with phpBB in a while, it is feasible for you guys to move the existing "sidebar" posts into a new topic? Probably in the Football forum, I'm guessing?

Fact of the matter is, a home slate of 5-6 FBS teams would be a vast improvement over our current predicament, no matter which conferences the FBS teams are from. I'd take Georgia State over Brevard for a home game any day, and I think a lot of Flames fans would agree.

I suspect that we will continue to have a home date against a familiar FCS opponent on our schedule for years to come if we do land a coveted FBS slot.

Oh, I agree. That's why I said 5-6 instead of 6. We've been generously hosted by FBS teams every year for a while, it's only fair we do the same for others when we get there. I just hope our new status will allow us to land some quality teams, and/or old rivals.

EDIT: Unless you are referring to a specific familiar FCS opponent, in which case this post no longer makes any sense.

VMI would be my guess

I wasn't referencing any school in particular. Just regional FCS schools in general. As for Chuck South, if Florida & Alabama don't mind padding their schedules with the Bucs then why should we have qualms with buying a cheap DI win?

this realignment thing just needs to be resolved. I would love us to be FBS but at this point I just want to know what the hell is happening!

Not much of anything is what's happening right this second.

I'm just hoping this board gets a little smarter once it's resolved. It's gotten pretty dumb over the last year.

It has always had an element of immaturity I guess is the best way to put it. I highly doubt that will change.

I would change immaturity to ignorance but yes.

I would imagine things will be a little clearer on Wednesday night, after Two Cents interviews Karl Benson. I doubt we'll know anything for sure at that point, since the Sun Belt has likely not made their decision yet, and he wouldn't give it away if they did. But the interview will hopefully give us a clearer picture of where we currently stand with them.

You can't really avoid that when few, if any, even have the capability to learn for sure what is actually going on. The vast majority of this topic is speculative by default, because there just hasn't been much in the way of official information.

Oh... You mean like Texas playing powerhouse "North Texas" right? :)

(I agree with you though)

But speculation without reason or knowledge of by laws is ignorance. Things like suing to go independent, the WAC East idea, and half the stuff said on here. People with legit knowledge are ignored while those who read the Sun Belt boards are lauded because they throw out crazy ideas. It's just dumb.

yeah, I really don't think anything has changed around here. I have changed. That is what is different

Fair point. I personally decided today to stop reading the CSNbbs board because the UMass thing has me convinced they have all lost what precious little sanity they had to begin with. (With the exception of the few who have migrated over here, who seem to be among the more rational.) Say what you want about the discussion over here, but IMO y'all are still pretty reasonable when compared to the "other place."

You're just getting old. I know exactly what you mean, but we were young once too.
The difference was that we actually knew things. Don't get me wrong, I was a first class jerk, but I at least knew what I was talking about, knew the rules of the NCAA, etc. Many of us were involved in athletics either from playing, working with, or studying college sports. Quite a few of the people who came here for legit discussions have left because of how dumb things have gotten.

FlameFans has suffered from a growing fan base. It's easier to be well-informed and know what's going on when you have to care and pay attention to know things. We have a lot more casual fans now than 3-4 years ago. It's the catch-22 of our program growing.

They beat us on a regular basis. It was close proximity. Their campus was amazing to vist. Their crowds were much better than any other big south crowds (when keydets were involved). And if you could hit it right and be there on parade day, what a treat.

I wouldn't mind playing VMI on a continual basis, especially if we're still FCS. I'd much rather play VMI than any other D2. If we're FBS, I can understand not playing them.

I guess you're talking about basketball?? They definitely didn't beat us in football "regularly".
