If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

An example in the BSC would be CCU and CSU; what we affectionately refer to as the "beach trip". For basketball we would play them on either a Saturday/Monday or a Thursday/Saturday. LU's travel partners have been Radford and VMI. I've never heard of teams sharing a plane or bus to travel.
Is this completely about other sports rather than football?
It really isn't a factor in football or baseball, since those are once a week sports in conference play and you always return home (of course in baseball we are talking about a 3 game series on a F-Sun, but it's the same as far as travel is concerned). It is useful for basketball, vollyball, soccer and any other sport where you may play 2 conference games against different opponents on the road within a 2-4 day time frame.

Every source I've talked to says that no one will be invited and nothing will be decided until the presidents meet in late May. I'm sticking with that until I hear differently. Any twitter reports to the contrary are likely false alarms.

I vote someone locks this thread until those meetings then.

If TCR has its way, we'll get some straight answers on our April 30th show. As soon as we get confirmation as to our guests (and their schedules), we'll announce it on the main TCR site and on here. It will definitely be a show MSU, JMU and LU fans do NOT want to miss. :)

Ok, I can understand making fun of Missouri State even though they averaged 3x more basketball fans in attendance this year than us, but JMU? That's a stretch.

Just adding that more speculation is out there. I HIGHLY DOUBT we are going to CUSA. It's more than likely Sun Belt or Bust, however some guy related to a business Liberty is associated with claims CUSA.
I wasn't going to throw this out but this board is too much fun. I live in L-burg. I friend of mine who works in a business that is has LU as a major client indicated that he heard a conversation that LU was headed to CUSA. When he told me this information, I replied, no, it is SB. He said no, it was clearly CUSA. So, it immediately made me think JMU/LU to CUSA to make two 8 team divisions to balance out travel time, increase rivalry and hopefully TV $$. You could have ODU, Charlotte, Marshall, UAB, Mid TN, USM, JMU and LU in one division. The other division is FAU, FIU, LA Tech, U of North Texas, Rice, UT San Antonio, Rice, UT of El Paso. Pure speculation on my part and just thinking out loud. I think the MAC is more likely and this is a shot from "downtown" with .5 seconds on the clock.

There is more of a chance that we end up in the C-USA than we end up in a conference with JMU.

Normally, I don't quote my own posts, but when I do....

(Cue up Dos Equis Man)

... I bring the big guns with me. :D

April 30th (Wednesday night), from 9 to 11 PM Eastern.

We've got Sun Belt Commish Karl Benson coming on, and yes, we're going to ask him about expansion plans for 2015-16 and beyond when the Idaho/NMSU contracts are up.

We'll be asking about JMU, MSU and LU specifically. :D

:flamingdevil :flamingdevil :flamingdevil

Good grief. I leave the board for a few days and all Hell breaks loose!

SLY don't be trying to poach my Legions. They follow The Dark Side because I offer the clear thinking those outside lack. Further, as leader of :flamingdevil I have posted what reality is, several pages ago. It has been confirmed by a sojourner from 'The Other Board'. The truth of the :flamingdevil is there for all to embrace.
I think we have the cash to pry away the one or two votes we need for a Super Majority! If not, I'm sure Godwin and his goons have 'files'.

I believe they lobbied for both.
This was from the Virginian-Pilot last year:

In many ways, the school is well ahead of ODU. While the Monarchs bring the Hampton Roads TV market and the 730,000 households to C-USA, Liberty brings its own TV network. With cable and satellite networks affiliated with the university's Christian broadcasts, the Liberty Flames Sports Network reaches a potential audience of more than 80 million homes.

"It's a lot like BYU's network," ODU athletic director Wood Selig said. "Liberty has a national audience."

Selig said he has talked with C-USA commissioner Britton Banowsky, not so much to recommend Liberty for the next round of conference expansion, but to make sure conference officials realized the growth potential.

"Their baseball stadium cost $18 million," Selig said. "There are Triple-A teams that don't have a stadium as nice as Liberty's. They have really positioned themselves well."

I believe they lobbied for both.
And then there's this, also from last year:

It appears likely that the first game between Old Dominion and Liberty University won't be the last.

Athletic directors at both schools said they would like to continue the rivalry, although Liberty first needs to find a Football Bowl Subdivision conference home.

Bruce Stewart, the senior associate athletic director in charge of scheduling for ODU, said he has been talking with Liberty about future home-and-home dates, but said he can't commit until the Flames receive an FBS commitment.

Liberty athletic director Jeff Barber and ODU athletic director Wood Selig are good friends who say once the Flames have found an FBS home, the schools surely will play.

"It makes sense," Selig said. "Lynchburg is about 3 1/2 hours away from Norfolk. It's a driveable game for our fans and they have a lot of alumni in the Hampton Roads area.
