As much as it pains me to say this as a die hard Falcons fan.... although i have not really payed attention to the whole story for fear that I'll see what i have a feeling is going to happen. Vick as much as I absolutly love what he does for the falcons on the field, he has had a less than stellar off-field rep. I watched the game he flicked off our fans. that was the day i stopped defending him and just hoped he didn't do any more stupid stuff. but apparently hoping isn't enough. Although this will kill the Falcons chances of playoffs, (yea i said it we aren't anything special without him) and the fact we traded Schaub. we are pretty much doomed. I hope he gets what he deserves for letting the whole city down.

FSU i hope you aren't refering to my last post because if you read it. I was in no way defending Vick. IF he did what he did. he should never play another down in the NFL. Did anyone just hear this on Mike and Mike? He went off on dog fighting. The former head of the KKK loves his animals, not people though. I think dog fighting is a horrible, but he makes it sound worse than murder or rape.
He is a major whack job. I'm trying to find the funniest audio clip they played where he yelled out the word "Barbarric" 32 times in a row, but I can't so far.

I am suprised this story is as big as it has become. Dog fighting was neve a big deal until Vick got caught. When did dog fighting every make the nightly news before the last few weeks?

Vick is a bumb, and I really don't care if he ever plays again, but I am suprised everyone actually cares about this...I mean, they never did before.

There might not have ever been a national news story about it before but I know I've seen local stories on the evening news about dog fighting rings being broken up and the ASPCA being involved numerous times over the course of my life. It's cruel, it's illegal and where you find dog fighting you usually find criminals of all types.

As for it being a race issue...also B.S. If Tom Brady had done this, there would be just as much press.

I agree with you Scorcho on everything except that Race is a bit of a factor. I don't think it is the driving force but it does play a role. In this case I think who Vick is has as much to do with the coverage as to what actually took place. I would say that the media does cover some things differently based on race. For example we hear about black players with multiple kids from different women. Tom Brady had 2 women pregnant at once and it was a joke on the late shows for a moment but not thought to be that big of a deal. Race is a difficult issue in this country and sometimes it is difficult to assess people's motivations just like politics in the media. Different outlets cover certain political topics with a slant toward their beliefs. It is a human thing. This situation is not a big race issue though but there are always undertones.
