Looking back on that situation, Gary Williams' policy of not recruiting on the AAU circuit because he disagreed the system that AAU had created was partially to blame for that as well. It's just easier to blame a guy from a school miles away in CT than the best coach in Terps history.

General consensus among MD fans is Gary was a better coach and Lefty has said that on multiple occasions himself. And it is called Gary Williams Court at Comcast Center not Lefty Driesell Court

People have short memories. Lefty made MD basketball relevant. Williams was maybe an equal coach without the personality. Those two are the only thing I liked about MD sports other than Len Bias.

I said they were the only things I ever liked about it. I'm not saying I ever hated the program so much as I was indifferent. But I rooted sometimes for Lefty's and Gary's teams depending on who they were playing. And Len was simply a phenomenal player.

I would never pull for Kentucky. They are the lowest of the lowest when it comes to ethics of NCAA basketball. Now that Calhoun is gone, UConn has some class.

Same here if Duke were playing against Kentucky last night I would buy a Duke shirt and be chanting A-C-C during the entire game. My UCONN hate comes from Calhoun and after I heard Kevin Ollie's interview last night I can't hate him

A lot of terp fans here. Mediocrity must love company.

You'll hate ollie soon enough because he's a winner like Calhoun

Ollie reminds me of my high school coach to much to hate him, takes what he can get as far as players and focuses on the fundamentals like free throw shooting and boxing out even when you are at a height/athleticism disadvantage. Can't hate a guy who wins the right way.

I hated Calhoun and hated UConn when he was there. I don't hate UConn now but I still don't like them, however, I like Ollie though. He seems like a class act, unlike Calhoun. Hopefully we don't find out eventually that he is directly guilty of cheating like Calhoun was. Lord knows we don't need any more crooked coaches. Wonder if he gets the whole academic thing figured out with his team given the tick poor APR score they apparently have again? Of course I know it's not entirely the coach or program's fault if a guy leaves early and just says screw it to finishing out the semester, but it's not like they have that many guys leaving early.

To choke in a big game you actually have to play in those, which LU doesn't.

Jean Van de Veld is the only person who finished second that people remember more than the winner.

And the Buffalo Bills. I have no clue who they lost to when they were losing four straight Super Bowls. It's as if the Buffao Bills fans were reserved a special place in hell for that kind of run.
