If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I'm guessing 5 years or less for the Redskins name to be changed. Snyder will change it and he will continue to own the team afterwards.
I'm not sure how that article had anything to do with anything. I mean honestly racial issues in this country are so artificial... we've stopped the lynchings so now at this point we're all just making up crap to keep people upset about something that happened so many years ago. It's unfortunate it occured, but we live in a country where all have an equal opportunity. Words change. People change. I'm glad we live in a age of tolerance. Well, by most.

When Indian Country Today ran a story about the Redskins Nation appearance, a commenter purporting to be Dodson's relative said that Dodson's native bona fides had been exaggerated. The commenter said Dodson is not a full-blooded member of any tribe and is in fact one-quarter Aleut, not Inuit. And "Chief"? "[T]hat was his nickname," the commenter wrote.
So their first source is an internet commenter after a story....

Then they actually do get a real source they ask for facts right? Or maybe opinions spoken as fact...
Asked why she thought Dodson was being portrayed by the Redskins and the NFL as an authentic Indian chief, Brueshaber said, "Somebody made a mistake and called him [Chief]. The Redskins went full steam ahead with it. They didn't check it because it was helping them."
I'm not saying this guy is a legit cheif or anything but this is pretty terrible journalism.

I really can't stand Rick Reilly or pretty much anything he writes, but his piece on this topic was stellar (though, as is typical Rick Reilly, he leaves himself about a mile of wiggle room). Some people have gotten really stupid about it, though. I noticed Gregg Easterbrooke won't even type "Redskins" in his Tuesday Morning QB column, I guess to spare the feelings of any over-sensitive Indian that may happen to actually read his idiocy, so I won't bother with that column anymore.

Which tribes are those? I saw quotes from a couple individuals who are okay with the name along with a list of tribes that are against the name.

This is the 1st time I have really followed this thread on FF but I want to address one thing about the N word. Whoever said it isn't offensive today is pretty misguided in my opinion.

I think what you are confusing is its use in a certain context i.e. hip hop and rap music and black commedians. Also within the black community. It is a word that blacks have tried to take the sting out of by making it into something else but make no mistake, hearing that word come out of the mouth of most people is still extremely offensive.

The fact that no one on here would dare type it out (including me) and that we call it the N word speaks volumes.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I personally hope the Redskins keep the name. But if they change it I will adjust just like with the Bullets going to the Wizards. Kind of unnecessary in my opinion but not life changing.

Seriously with all that's going on in the world one would think the media would have enough crap to concentrate on that they wouldn't need to create a new class of victims out of thin air.

I'm really getting tired of these people...

I was at Burger King today and heard some of the crew in the back yelling to each other about it. They seemed pretty mad at Obama and these were prime Obama constituents. They ended the conversation by claiming that he would probably force them to change it to the Obamaskins. I chuckled at the time but typing it out just now it seems not really all that funny. Maybe it was situational humor.

After he is done with the Team in DC he will move on to the team in Dallas. Obviously they are waging a war on women down there and he will demand they change their name to The Cow People
