redick has no business being in the game in OT if he cant hit wide open 3s if he doesnt have the PG skills to run the offense and make plays.

great box out by gasol on that turkoglu miss. kobe did a good job to reward him on the other end with an and1.

Thanks for the loss, JJ and Rafer. Why we have two people on the floor who can't do anything is beyond me.

jj redick with a nice layup - and he's been playing better D so far than people give him credit for...

if SVG is smart he puts turkoglu on kobe to start game 3. his height works well for defending kobe and forcing him to have to take tougher shots by having to fade away on his shots.

and howard complaining about that last foul on him is ridiculous. that push was one of the most obvious fouls in the game. middle school refs make that cal...

howard set an illegal screen on odom, but sense illegal screens apparently dont exist in the minds of refs, might as well set them.

Kobe lovers, this is proof that your boy ain't all he's cracked up to be. He was locked down by Hedo at the end there, and was a non-factor in OT. "Best closer" my butt. He's a great player, but admit it... MJ would have closed that in regulation. LeFraud probably would have, too.

Kobe hit a tough shot on Hedo in OT that gave the Lakers the lead for good, and he delivered the game changing assist to Pau in OT that sealed the deal on the game. That's clutch, not as clutch as MJ, but clutch. I never have called him the "best closer" however, but those two plays were absolutely huge and were two of the biggest reasons why the Lakers are now up 2-0 on your boys.

after 2 games...

Fisher >> alston, jameer, redick.
fisher has not been spectacular, but he has provided solid, consistent, and reliable play. none of the magic trio have done that yet.

bryant >> lee, pietrus, redick
no explanation needed

turkoglu > ariza
turkoglu has had one big game and palyed good D on kobe in the second one, but Ariza has been very good on D for both games, which makes up or his offensive struggles.

gasol > lewis
lewis was huge in game 2, but faded in the second half and OT (just 12 points compared to 22 in the first half) and had a very poor game 1. pau gasol was a manbeast in game 2 and had a very solid game 1.

howard >> bynum
Bynum has played good D when he has been in and provided a decent offensive punch, but he's no howard. if howard develops some some strong post moves and works on his court awareness (sure he's a good passer, but if he doesn't look to past his awareness of where the double is coming from has been very poor, especially in game 2 as evidenced by his 7 turnovers) he will be simply unstoppable

bench
odom has clearly been the best bench player in the series, and it's not even close. averaging 15 points (while shooting 65%), 11 boards, and 2 blocks. his D on rashard in the first half of game 2 was terrible, but he came out in the second half and played much better.

next, despite his limited minutes, i'd go gortat. he's been good on D, although struggled some with Odom, but has boarded well and blocked well.

after that it's not a whole lot based on what they have done so far, but pietrus would come next. pietrus' D was useless against Kobe in game 1 (although he did provide some offensive punch) and he fouled out in just 24 minutes in game 2, so really his D wasn't particularly good then either. walton has done a servicable job, farmar hasn't played enough to have any impact, and redick has basically sucked.

Those were not the two biggest plays, you're just ESPN'ed into thinking so because the Mamba was involved. Gasol is the reason the Lakers won, hands down. The contest on Lee on the Alley oop, and the clutch baskets.

Except the Magic don't cry... they're one of the more resilient teams. Proved that tonight, bouncing back with a good game after the blowout.

And need I remind you where your team is? And has been since the Magic knocked them out?

Did I say they were THE two biggest players? No, go back and read. I said they were two of the biggest plays. big difference there...

They are probably looking at the 17 banners the Celtics have and feeling sorry for the Magic since they don't even have one. or perhaps they are shining up their championship rings they earned last year, which consequently enough is one more than the magic have as well.

Living off past dynasties, nice.

The Magic haven't been in existence that long... The Celtics already had like 16 titles before the Magic existed. What a terrible, terrible attempt at smack. Gonna smack on the Rays, telling me how the Sox 4 titles or whatever are better?

since the magic have been in existence:
championship for celtics 1 > championships for magic 0
advantage: celtics

since the rays have been in existence:
championships for red sox 2 > championships for rays 0
advantage: red sox

since the bucs have been in existence:
championships for patriots 3 > championships for bucs 1
advantage: patriots

since the lightning have been in existence:
championships for bruins 0 < championships for lightning 1
advantage: lightning

Boston/New England 3, Tampa Bay 1

what's your excuse this time? the nba/mlb/nfl don't want tampa/orlando to win? the refs/umpires won't allow them to win?

"Greater" Boston population: 7.5 million

"Greater" Tampa/Orlando combined population: 2.3 million

I wonder why they have more titles. Hmmmm.
Particularly in a sport like baseball with no Salary Cap... hmmm.

Also, no one talks smack against the Pats. They're a juggernaut. I even pull for them as a bandwagoner. They are America's team... although most people just hate them.

Pittsburgh metropolitan = 2.3. Pirates have 5 world series titles.
Cincinnati - 2.1 million. They have 5 world series titles.
Kansas City = 2.0 million. They have 1 world series title.

Gasol, Odom, and Fisher all hit big time FT's down the stretch that sealed it

Kobe was Kobe and had an 'average' Kobe game. He hit a very tough shot on a defender that had been playing him really well in overtime, he also was a smart player and decided to pass to Pau on the pick and roll instead of take it himself.

he had a chance at ending it in regulation, unfortunately everyone knew it was going to him so he had to try and drive and shoot with 3 guys around him, one of them being dwight howard,

lakers got lucky in regulation but played hard and deserved to win in overtime

Honestly after watching 2 games in this series (and i have no dog in this fight) im done watching the NBA after this series. The officiating is so widly inconsistent it makes the games unwatchable for the most part.

- Moving pick fouls are a joke and called at complete random cause they happen everywhere
- Watching officials mouth "Im sorry" after calls isn't inspiring confidence.
- Kobe and his phantom fouls that the announcers are even calling BS are just funny.
- The whining that goes on after every call by all the superstars (or players who think they are) makes me think im watching soccer. I mean the flopping is getting to the point where they ned to be handled in a negative manner
- Why do i have to watch JACK constantly....do i care that he is cursing an offical out? I mean really the love fest with him is redic.
