I know the BCS is gone that's why I used "could" not "can", past tense, I don't really know how the committee will treat the MAC in the new playoff that's why I used the BCS as an example, we all know how the MAC got treated in the BCS computer.

The question for us has come down to whether or not the MAC will stay at 12. If they stay, chances are JMU has a change of heart about the Sun Belt.
Hell freezes over before UMass goes to the SBC. FB only or all sports It would be the dumbest move since the Big XII invited WVU
IMO, this really frees up the MAC to make a big move. If they add The Fighting a Blue Hens that gives them the Philly/Jersey Market. Throw in JMU and you get the NoVa market. Whatever Bowl/NCAA money they lose dividing by 14 instead of 13 they can more than make up for in TV money.
That leaves one dancer (SBC) and one dance partner (LU)
FTFY.

The MAC adding UD and JMU would be good moves for them to get to 14. That would make Liberty and SBC the obvious pairing, but the SBC may still be trying to court wallflowers Missouri State and Eastern Kentucky.

I could understand Eastern Kentucky but how come Missouri state is even a consideration when Benson has mentioned a million times app st needs a travel partner and they want an eastern school. If I was App state I'd be furious if these western schools cost me the ability to get what I deserved because their obsessed with hating liberty, or is it their lack of finances (If $ is the limiting factor maybe those poor schools should consider moving back to FCS instead if dragging down the rest of the conference).

because it's ANY and EVERY option other than LU for this conference*

has been, always will be. I'm ok with it at this point.

The reason why Missouri State is constantly brought up is because the western schools who make up the power structure of the league would much prefer to bring in somebody close by. Yes, Benson has made it clear about his eastern wishes. But that won't stop the Arkansas States & Louisiana schools from stumping for MSU even though their football situation is horrendous and their once vaunted hoops programs are nowhere close to where they were a decade ago.

I have no idea what the feeling is among league presidents right now. But as of a month ago, resistance to our candidacy was wearing thinner by the minute.

Could it be that the SBC explores the possibility of adding UMass for football only and then an eastern non-football member, like a UNC-Greensboro or similar type school to satisfy App State?

Just curious, but could what's happening at Northwestern hurt our chances?

If I'm in a leadership position at a public institution with little money, why would I be keen to invite a private school with a lot of money?

The interesting thing about this money talk is that the SBC has all of the power and they could make some pretty big demands of us, that we would likely succumb to, just so we could get an invite. They could increase the number of years it takes for us to get a share of conference revenue, they could require us to subsidize the cost of travel, they could ask for free advertising on all LFSN broadcasts, they could jack up the exit fee. Not only that, but I bet there are some presidents that are interested in finding out how we operate as a university that has enabled us to get where we are. They could ask for some behind the scenes access to try and make improvements to their own operations. There are NO other schools out there in the landscape of NCAA Div I Athletics, let alone higher ed altogether that they could use like this. The question is, will they see through the fog of their pride and prejudices towards us and take advantage of the situation before them?

Your non LU sources are they also ESPN sources ?
I was always completely confident of a majority. I am not that confident of the Super Majority. Perhaps should have done a better job researching the need for a Super lol. But hey, that's why it's a bold prediction.
I think JMU is head scratching. Going FBS is popular there but no where near desireable as it is here. So do you stay CAA and marshal your resources to make a jump to a conference you REALLY want or take the First available and use all your political capital? It would be an easier sell to the JMU fence sitters if it was part of a Package deal. Say a CUSA move to tie in with ODU or Delaware to the MAC or CUSA. (IMO, with a little funding UD would be a great add to any FBS conference). Jumping to the SBC really does nothing to enhance what they want to do.
The SBC needs a conf championship game to become/remain relevant. We are their best, easiest and most expedient option

If that's true - we are in good shape. Jerry Jr. represents our school very well and they will see that LU is 100% behind putting a quality program together at the highest level and painting that picture of a league missing out on the next Notre Dame or BYU. You laugh, but how fast are they growing their Alumni base?
