True in a professional sense, but not as much so at the college level.

Shareholders or stakeholders...difference in terminology does not change my position. A donor to the Flames Club shows he/she believes in its mission. It does not give the donor a stake in the athletic department's operational decisions.

But reality is high-money donors give for that reason. So throwing them a bone every now and again to feel like they're involved is just the cost of doing business.

jbock...I meant to type stakeholders not shareholders. The people I listed are stakeholders at the high school and collegiate level. Thank you Sly for pointed out that difference.

Since there hasn't been a lot of realignment news lately, this is a nice tidbit:

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.co ... s-for-now/

I suppose we can presume that we won't be talking about FBS moves of any kind until next spring, when the Sun Belt tries to make a run at JMU, and ODU tries to talk C-USA into grabbing them instead. If the Flames can do in football this year what it's done in other sports in the 2012-13 season and make the playoffs, perhaps we can make ourselves more attractive option. Until then, I'm fired up for the 2013 football season - tailgating, anyone? Go Flames!

From Flames Nation:

http://www.libertyflamesnation.com/2013 ... -over.html

And CBSSports.com

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... sion-pause

This is the money quote:

"The Sun Belt will be an 11-team league starting July 1, 2014, Benson said, and though a 12-team model is 'still a possibility,' the league won't further evaluate the issue until after the first of the year.

"Maybe then someone like Liberty will get the call and make the difficult, often costly move to FBS. But for now, all 10 conferences appear stable."

I find it interesting that, of all the schools that could potentially be in the mix to move up to the FBS in general, and the Sun Belt in particular, at the first of the year, the writer chose to mention Liberty specifically.

"Fascinating" (spoken in my best Spock voice).

I love you guys. I really do. but I will continue to sound the horn for a move to the CAA RIGHT NOW and for the foreseeable future. Unless the big conferences make any sort of moves, which doesn't seem likely for some time, we aren't getting a call from the sunbelt. I can almost guarantee the presidents of the Sun Belt will fight til the death to keep us out for as long as humanly possible. Accept that we have a lot of haters and go join a conference that will get us a better SOS for the playoffs.

I know that's a figure of speech but good choice. If that's their plan the will literally be fighting to keep us out which will result in the death of their conference and/or football programs.

BRILLIANT mind when it comes to athletics. She's like a better female version of Darren Rovell.

That would explain why I couldn't find it! Thanks, she did seem very knowledgeable especially on the #'s they gave down in florida last week on why its not feasible for FCS to move up. Haha almost made me turn the station glad I didn't.
