Another thing, we will not be ready for those games until we finish phase two .... 25,000- 30,000 seats and a HD-TV feed will land those games.

RVAparks wrote:Perhaps this is what is "holding up" things?: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... team-modelThere's been a lot of talk about UL-Lafayette moving up from the Sun Belt. They have two straight bowl victories over San Diego State and East Carolina respectively, and their bowl games were among the best -attended non-BCS games in both years (over 42,000 and over 48,000). They have teams like Arkansas, Kansas State, Boise State and Louisiana Tech scheduled over the next two years, and five of their games will be nationally televised this upcoming season.

Appalachian State and Georgia Southern joined the Sun Belt in late March, while James Madison and Liberty are candidates to replace Western Kentucky. C-USA is adding Old Dominion and Charlotte.

@BrentThibodeaux#SunBelt expansion update: Conference hopes to announce their latest addition by the end of April. Could stretch into May, depending.
@BrentThibodeaux
#JMU still remains the preferred addition to the #SunBelt. Realistically it won't happen before June 1st. This helps Liberty.

Remember when I stated the #SunBelt has a plan in place for a 2nd team to leave in addition to #WKU? There is merit to the report.
Sly Fox wrote:Don't forget the June 1st deadline to add schools in order for the transition in 2014 with membership in 2015. That is the driving motivator for any leagues considering FCS call-ups such as Sun Belt, C-USA or MAC. Especially for the Sun Belt and their plans for a football championship game which require 12 football schools.Which is why the longer the SBC lets JMU vacillate the worse it is for us. If allowed I can see JMU waiting until May 31st before giving their answer.
We still desperately need to get college presidents on our campus somehow.
Purple Haize wrote:He contradicts himself by saying Conference hopes to name by end of April, then says could stretch into May, only to say it won't realistically happen until June. Too much wiggle room. The later it gets the better chance of the SBC saying they will wait to next yearI don't think you read that right. He said that the conference hopes to add a team by the end of April, but could stretch to May. However, when he mentions JMU being added specifically - he says realistically that wouldn't happen before June 1st, which is why that's good for us (Liberty). Essentially, the SBC wants to add a program well before June 1st, which Brent believes is the earliest date that JMU would commit to. JMU is stretching this out more than likely, but I tend to think that JMU will turn down the SBC in favor of C-USA or the MAC.
