Another note on the grad rates. And someone can correct me on this because I am not sure, but I believe that these rates are affected by transfers as well as NBA defects. We all know about Duke's recent transfer history as well having a few guys leave for the NBA. On a team of 13, if a few players leave every year it could really have an affect on your grad rate. As far as Duke football goes, with Duke's higher academic standards, it is a lot easier to field a competitive team of 13 than it is to field a competitive team of 80. It can be done but at Duke they have just not had a very good coach since Spurrier left after 89'. Recruiting has been awful and it simply snowballed. Hopefully Coach Cut can turn the ship around.

Ok, here we go, although your article says "Graduation Rates fo 2008" the data they used is from the the 97-98, 98-99. 99-00, 00-01. Four years, four freshman classes. Now lets look at Duke during those years and see who they brought in.

So now I ask, what do you think now? You can see clearly that if you are at Duke, education is important and you are a student athlete. I think you should take the grad rate thing out of the reasons you blindly hate everything about Duke.

I was referring more to people like Dickens and A-Train that are blinded by their own hate for Duke and that will obviously go to their grave thinking Duke sucks, it doesn't belong in the ACC and is probably the worst basketball team to ever be allowed on a court.
If hatred is the measuring stick you use to judge a team's validity than do us all a favor and stop calling yourself a sports fan. You're better off getting hooked on american idol or america's next top model and because you clearly don't know crap about sports.

The fact of the matter is Duke players have the BALLS to take charges. I guess Roy doesn't know how to teach the art of selfless defense or maybe it's because his players are too busy getting in trouble or just don't want to take a charge. And before you even think about coming back with the J.J. Redick incident...let's not even get into comparing the list of Carolina players (and I'm not just talking basketball) that have gotten in trouble recently. There's a rap sheet long enough to wrap around Sean May's waistline more than once.

I will say that as tiresome as these Duke/UNC discussions are to someone like myself with an outsider's view, its good to see people with the level of passion that you guys have for your respective schools. I think it speaks volumes about what LU athletics is up against. I mean this forum is for the more enthusiastic sports fans. What are they supposed to do to get the average student's support?

Really football is moving in the right direction. Coach Rocco is someone who is very engaging to the students and they got behind him almost as soon as he got to the mountain. Taking a team from 1-10 -8-3 and Big South champions in two seasons definitely helped too. Coach McKay is getting to that point as well as it relates to connecting with the students. whether or not the students stay in his corner will depend on the on court product. I sensed that the last few home games when we had what I would think are pretty significant numbers on the student side. If we can get good and stay that way in our big three (football, baseball and basketball all of whom have gotten new coaches in the last three years) then youre going to start seeing Id think more Liberty fans among the students. I dont think itll get to a Duke or UNC kind of level adn fever pitch but still pretty high
