JDUB wrote:your acting like these guys are the most qualified for the job, and that they deserve a offer. we DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE an LU alum for this job, and there are probably more qualified people available than these guys. I'm not agianst them getting the job, don't get me wrong, i think it would be great if we were able to offer the job to an alum, but we can't hire someone just because there an alum. we must hire someone who is right for the job, and believe it or not there are more people out there than these three guys

please keep up, your still talking about head coach, we're not.

Could Bream add something to this staff? Absolutely.

Does anyone know, for sure, that he'd be a quality recruiter? No, they don't.

What you're suggesting is we should keep him around to be our sugar daddy.

Let Toman go out and get his guys that he knows can recruit, that he knows can coach, and that he knows fits his style of baseball.

You did this in football recently & everyone seems to think everything over there's working great. (not Rocco)

It's not a sugardaddy, It's business. It's being smart. Corporations dont have recruiters that have never been employed by the business.......ahhh whatever I'm wasting my breath.

i am keeping up. your acting like they have to hire an alum for an assistant, and they don't. they can hire whoever they want, and jon is right. if Toman doesn't want bream, or the other guys, then too bad for them. let him get someone he knows will do a good job as an assistant, not someone who is a big if and is only considered because there an alum

What alum did we specifically keep around and give a job just so they could bring in money, which is exactly what you're suggesting.

Truth, I am sure you mean well, you just don't have all the facts straight. Corporations have more recruiters that have never worked for them then those that have, especially for executive/management positions. I get calls from them almost every week for recommendations or to guage my personal interest in a particular job. I have been placed in two positions by recruiters who have never worked for the company that I went to work for.

Bottom line, we are going to be fine and it looks like we will have a much improved baseball staff. But only time will tell and I am confident that if things don't go as planned, other decisions will be made. That much we can count on.

Well, with all this said its Toman's team, and he hasnt even lost a game and yet some are criticizing how things are done. Right now, we have NO LEGIT reason to say hes doing this wrong, other than one guy with a personal preference as to who he thinks would be a good assistant. I have a feeling in a couple of weeks the majority of us will be more than satisfied with the assistants because LU Baseball will be headed in the right direction. Sometimes though that may mean we need successful people from more successful programs who know HOW TO GET IT DONE. Not taking away from the 3 big alums, but I have a feeling were are going to have a loaded coaching staff who can take this program to a new level.
