If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Like I said, I WILL NOT talk crap about Dook academically. They are a great school.

The thing that makes the Dook/UNC rivalry even better is that they're two of the top schools in the country in academics. They're not two schools that have no academic standards and just happen to be good in sports.

Give me a second to look. Keep in mind that Carolina is a public though and they're required to let a certain number of in-state students in.

My biggest defense of LU when people say we're horrible academically is "It's one thing to be accepted to the school, it's a completely different thing to be able to stay.

Now, time to look up that stuff.

There's a swipe to be made here about the current quality of journalism in this country but that's another thread for another day.

Exactly.

I honestly don't know what Dook specializes in because I never looked into going there (costs waaaaay too much).

I agree.

I just like being able to pull the Peter Gammons card.

Are 2 guys from Liberty actually arguing over UNC/Duke academics? You guys are fans of their basketball teams, not their students' SAT scores.

Duke doesn't have a minimum/maximum SAT/ACT.

SJ brings up a good point about the difference between in and out of state students though. UNC is primarily an in-state school while the current makeup of Duke is just 14% of North Carolina students.

I know the medical and research fields are outstanding there but as far as undergrads, I don't know. Never really looked into it. I've been a Duke fan since forever but I never even thought of going there.

I'm a fan of Carolina as a whole.

I seriously looked into going to school there and I was smart enough, I just goofed off too much in high school to get in.

I was just simply curious...I made the statement they have a better education at Duke, and I wanted to know if I'm correct with that statement

In some fields you would be right. In others, you would be completely wrong.

UNC's big undergrad programs - Pre-med, Business, Pre-Law, Journalism/Coms, Poli-Sci/Government

Duke's big undergrad programs - Pre-med, Pre-Law, Business, Engineering

I would just like to state that I think Duke has been completly overrated since day 1 this season...I know a ton of people are gonna disagree with me, but I still think duke had no business in the tourney (along with stanford and illinois), especially if you look at some of the teams that were left out. The bottom line is that if duke was not duke they would have been a bubble team at best this year. And how a team that was 6th (i think) in their conference gets a 6th seed in the NCAA tournament I'll never know.

that just shows how strong the ACC conference is...i thought the selection committee did a good job, i think a 6 seed was about right.....but i fully believe that they belonged in the tournament, simply for the fact that they could have made it to the sweet 16 just as easily as a round one loss......thats just my opinion though....duke in the NIT just doesnt sound right

Oh, that's what that does. Well, heck I guess the whole league should be invited. Why hold it against a team with a losing record in this god of conferences?

Despite Duke's shortcomings, they still finished the season at #17 in the RPI.
