The people who say they hate hockey have never seen it in person. I've been to two Flyers games and one LU game and that is the most exciting sport on the planet to see in person and probably the only one of the four majors that's better to see in person than at home.

hockey is such a hard watch on tv because of the puck being nearly invisible for 50% of the game. much easier to see live regardless of where you are in the stadium. thats been the problem with televised hockey for years and probably why espn didn't fight for it.

6 LU games, a Norfolk Admirals game (when they were the Hampton Roads Admirals) and watching Ray Bourque win his first Cup on ESPN

If anyone has says they hate hockey after watching that, they are not sports fans

seeing a guy they don't know win the stanley cup should automatically turn people into hockey lovers? i don't follow.

I agree with RM on this one...most people on here under the age of Id say 25 probably won't recognize the name Ray Bourque unless youre a Boston Bruins or Colorado Avalanche fan.

No more late passes with an on campus venue, Mallet. And they still draw strong numbers considering the students actually have to pay out of pocket.

That's a really nice venue and the team is competitive so it's worth it and if I play my cards right in a year or two I'll get in for free anyway, perks of being a broadcasting major.

They draw more than most men's and women's basketball. The popularity has sky rocketed in the last 3 or 4 years.

Agreed...when I wrote for Liberty, I routinely saw a packed house for the D1 team...and they were packed along the boards too. they probably are the biggest most consistent draw we have outside of football, with baseball getting up there since the new stadium was built

well duh. college hockey and small town independent league hockey still attracts droves of followers for good reason.
