If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

This is much better IMO, then glossing over failures in sports that we should be dominating by saying Wait till we move up to FBS then the recruits will come rolling in. Sure it doesn't necessarily help us to get an invite, but if we have a track record of winning, it most certainly will help us when we do get there.
Save the PR stunts for the truly desperate.
How dare you Haize. You're a terrible fan. Do even realize that actually makes perfect sense!

+1

It frightens me how much I'm agreeing with you guys today.

Be the best we can be where we are, be ready and willing to move up at any time, but don't sit on a mountaintop and wait for the call to come. Wait -- that's my sermon for Wednesday night about the Rapture. I guess it fits this situation too, though. ;) Luke 19:13 applies here, I'm thinking (actually that whole parable could apply to this situation -- that's the beauty of parables).

It's ok. Wisdom comes after time. When you don't listen to others and realize we aren't a bunch of no nothing blow hards, your horizons will broaden exponentially. Welcome to the Dark Side!

That reminds me of the Sunday school lesson I taught this morning from Exodus: the Israelites were eating their very first Passover meal with their sandals on and one hand on their staff--reading and waiting for their marching orders out of Egypt (aka, the BSC).

Which is interesting comparison. Some think the Israelites were slaves of the Egyptians. Yet there is another school of thought that they were actually the skilled labor that built the Empire. Which are we? Middle Management? :D

UMass, which absorbed nearly $3 million in new football expenditures, played its home games at a mostly empty Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

AMHERST, Mass. — Hung from lampposts and tacked to bulletin boards, the maroon and white banners were everywhere this past fall on the pastoral campus of the University of Massachusetts.

That article is essentially a recap of 87 pages of this thread. Yeah, there are potential pitfalls. But the article illustrates very clearly why we should be looking for opportunities.

It is a little unfair to lead the story with an example where a transitional school is playing home games 100 miles from their campus (2-hour drive each way) at an NFL venue while they build their own stadium. I don't see us scheduling our home games in Richmond anytime soon.

Great article. Love the risk. It gets my heart rate up. Pity the man who went through life and never took a risk. Never started that business or made that move, never asked that girl or made that decision. I welcome the risk with open arms. Now onward, into the fray!

KLOV had a story about Liberty wanting to move up to FBS football. Wasn't a long one ("news" on KLOV never is), but it was kinda cool.

I don't think anyone really believes Liberty is going to the Big East, but that doesn't mean that the dominoes won't fall to benefit Liberty as a result of this move. I remember reading Benson was waiting until the new year to start talking about the additions to the Sun Belt... Perhaps this will encourage the Sun Belt to go bigger rather than only adding 2 teams to prepare for the changing landscape.

Speak for yourself! Some of us have vision! Some of us are ready to take the risk! Some of us are ready to name it and claim it! Can I get an AMEN
