If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

My point was that not every player that is drafted makes it to the show, and even of the guys that do, some will be successful and become superstars, and some...well...they don't. Either they head back down to the minors or they move to another team or they end up out of baseball entirely. You don't know who the successful ones will be when you draft them. Now you can speculate on that but you won't know for sure how good a guy can be as a pro until you get them playing major league competition. Just because you were an All-American (high school or college) doesnt mean youre going to be an instant superstar the second you put on a major league uniform. Youre going to hit on some and youre going to miss on some.

I just think its funny that somehow the Nationals are the model franchise or something. Now granted that franchise has improved a ton since their Montreal days but lets not get too ahead of yourself they have to put years of solid player development in to prove they are a franchise worth modeling after. The Rays on the other hand, other then terrible fan support to a terrible location, is a great organization at developing homegrown talent. Quite possibly the best at this point.

The Nationals?? Middle of the pack, at best

The braves are another example of a team (like the rays) that draft and develop well. Case and point, Evan Gattis, Alex Wood, Jason Heyward, Freddie Freeman, mike minor, etc.

Of course I am the most amused by all the Nationals bandwagon jumpers. Sure, in all fairness a team did move there, but still nobody cared until last year. And besides, your GM quite possibly single-handedly shot your chance at a World Series? Come on. He isn't that great apparently. That and Nationals fans are quickly a gaining the reputation of a Yankees fan who has never once even attended a Yankees game... we all know that guy.

Off topic alert!!

My kid got to run around the bases at Wrigley last week. Oh, and I got to escort him out there.

The season could end today and I'd be happy.

You may continue.

I'm the color of the infield grass. The only time I've gotten to do that was when we saw The Police in concert in 07 or 08

You get the chance to stand on hallowed grounds like that in any sport and just start naming names of who played there, not just for the home team either, and you really get the chill bumps.

Wow. Just stay home and watch it on your HD. Wrigley should NEVER be torn down. The day that happens is the day the Cubs become like the Florida Marlins, without the World Series wins.

Okay, I'll admit that I actually considered this as a valid idea mainly because of how playing day games negatively impacts the Cubs chances of winning...and then I went to the game last week. There really is something special about Wrigley and the surrounding area. I've been there dozens of times, but I always come away with a feeling that there really is nothing like an afternoon game in the Friendly Confines.

I'm looking forward to the renovations over the next couple of years. I also like the direction Theo and co. are taking with the team. Back to the Future II's prediction of a WS win in 2015 might not have been that far off. 8)

I would if WGN showed up in HD on Extra Innings, but it doesn't.
