Case in point, except for BJ and a few others, I bet the majority of Flame Fans can't even tell you the mascots of both schools.
Just to prove your point:
Blue Raiders (MTSU) and Panthers (Georgia State)

I was being sarcastic. I don't think there is a such thing as Summer League.

"As we speak" meaning over the course of the last year, the most recent, the last dates of athletic competition worth discussing in relation to Liberty vs. CUSA opponents.

Go ahead, pick it apart. Point being, the last time we played CUSA schools we won.

We would do ok in the new lineup of C-USA schools, but it won't happen.

Even Sly isn't speaking any words of positivity when it comes to us joining an FBS conference. You know things aren't going well when he's not grasping at straws!! :D

One is much different then the other. It's not picking apart, it's calling you out. You should work for the Obama campaign.

The last time we played a CUSA school in baseball we won. In my book that is current because it was the last time we played. That is "as we speak" as in the last meeting. It's current. Call me out all you want we could compete in CUSA right away. But wait, you don't care about golf. Nevermind, carry on.

What was the TV ratings for the lowest rated bowl a CUSA team was in? I'm thinking it was substantially higher then the coverage of the NCAA Men's golf championship, let alone the CUSA conference golf championship.
And how can something be 'current' if the event already took place? A season has a definitive start and end date. After the end date, from that point forward, it would be in the past. Now a win streak is only defined by the first win and only concludes when the team no longer wins.
But that's right, you speak your own language that all of us are to low to understand. Even the Great Cider !

I'm all about football, trust me. Heck I think football could compete right away in CUSA as well. Our other sports are certainly ready (golf, baseball, track, etc). I'm sorry, but Marshall just really isn't that good. Tulane? Rice? UAB? Really? UTEP? We could beat these teams right now (well not right this second of course, right now meaning if we actually played, you know, in a game and what not).

This is going to sound bad, but I promise it's nothing meant against Liberty, but... Shouldn't you be winning Big South championships on a consistent level before you say you can think you can compete consistently in the CUSA? Just b/c you beat the WORST CUSA baseball program two out of three games doesn't mean you can compete right away. Rice has one of the best baseball programs in the country. Central Florida and Southern Miss have been pretty good recently also (yes I know UCF is leaving). The success of Liberty's baseball and golf programs are fairly new. Especially golf where for lack of a better word, a team was bought post- 2008 by allocating funding to foreign resources. You're also outlining schools that I don't think you know much about. UAB, East Carolina, and Central Florida traditionally have VERY good golf programs. I was actually recruited by UAB early on in my HS career and my dad thought it was a joke.

I love the optimism, but you have to be honest with yourself. Could Liberty come in and compete in some sports in CUSA? Sure. But you won't be competing for championships. Especially in football. There is clearly no correlation between FCS success and FBS success, but my opinion would be it would take Liberty 5-8 years to even sniff the bowl picture in Conference USA.

I disagree, one of the main reasons a kid chooses a school is for the league reputation. That has dominated us in the past . If we make the jump, our recruits get MUCH better year one.

That's certainly a valid point but it's true for every team in that conference. What are the other advantages that Liberty would have over other CUSA schools that would warrant being a championship contender immediately? Coaching (Yes in football)? Facilities? Tradition/History?

Think about it this way. Say you're recruiting a running back from Richmond. Religion is not a factor in his decision. The three schools recruiting him are Liberty, ODU, and ECU. What would be Liberty's pitch? What is their notable advantage? (I'm not saying there aren't any, I'd just like to hear the pitch)

Our football team would not compete right away in CUSA. We wouldn't finish dead last, but come on we can't even win the Big South

I was talking football specifically when mentioning those schools. I changed the discussion to football as no one wants to talk about our golf domination. And "bought" a championship? Anyone can recruit foreign athletes just like we can. Yes, we could beat the schools I mentioned in football. 8 years to be competitive? Surely you cannot be serious!

You're right anyone CAN recruit a foreign athlete, but not everyone can afford to. Especially when it comes to non-revenue sports.

Any school with scholarship money can "afford" to recruit foreign athletes. A full scholarship for someone from Sweden costs the same as a full ride for someone form Amherst County.

And yes, we have teams on campus right now who would compete for CUSA championships their first year in the league.

It has nothing to do with the value of the scholarship. It has to do with the ability to send coaches to Europe, South America, and Australia to scout these kids or establish relationships with the sports institutes. Do you Radford or Longwood has the same ability to recruit a Swedish golfer as Liberty?
