If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I've actually almost beaten career mode on FIFA 2005. I played for about 4 hours yesterday and I've gotten my coaches all as good as they can get. I'm either on my 14th or 15th year as a manager. I'm playing with Barcelona and haven't given up a goal through 20 games or so.

I've never even came close to getting fired. My approval level is always around 99. If I lose a game it'll drop to 90 but I'll bring it back up.

SJ, maybe you should run for President....the current one can't keep his approval rating above 40!!!!! and if your's is at 99% I like your chances...

Besides the fact that there will be sweaty men in shorts!!! :D I am so gassed for the world cup. I LOVE BONO doing the voice overs for the commercials. How about "America, the world isn't excited to play you anymore" Or the Ivory Coast one. ( I actually HAD friends in that country, tragic) I can not WAIT I am Sosoooo excited. I have the channel on memory on my XM, I am trying to plan my work day so I can get home in the afternoon and catch the "late" game (Another Bono add "Every four years, employee sick days soar, and no one gets fired. Because their bosses are there with them!) This is the only time I get excited about soccer, with the occasional UEF one on ESPN 389 or something. International soccer/futbal is an unbelieveable spectacle. For those that haven't experienced it think NASCAR type atmosphere. Each player will have their own song/chant that the fans sing. Referees who are "involved" I even believe D Edcil will be there doing a game! For those "uninitiated" please give it a chance, and then go back to your soccer hating. Every year there is a great story. The "Indominateble Lions" of Cameroon. The "Hand of God" goal from Maradona. The Columbian who got shot b/c he scored a goal for the US. France actually winning something. A large group of Germans NOT invading anybody. Plus the characters. Did any one see the dude who scored a goal and then acted like he was snorting the goal line? The celebrations after goals. (OK there are only 2 or 3 but they are worth the wait)
I could go on and on. Like the LIFE cereal commercial said "Try it you will like it".

(BTW, NONE of this applies to MLS)

It's out on ESPN.com today that Ronaldo is interested in playing in the US down the road. If we can get him and Beckham over here I think soccer my pick up even more.

I dare say the NASL was more popular then than the MLS is right now (especially in the Northeast). The trouble was that youth soccer was still in its infancy in the heartland. While that is no longer an issue, the sport still has trouble distinguishing itself nothing more than a kids' sport. Even a World Cup victory probably wouldn't eliminate that perception (whether true or not). There are similar correlations with hockey. The primary difference between hockey & soccer in America is that there is an established (although often troubled) NHL that puts on a great show for fans. The MLS hasn't been able to create an atmosphere yet in America that enchants the nation.

If that happens, I shall have to rebuild and activate the DEATH STAR on this pathetic planet.

The Baseball Empire shall put down the kick ball rebellion.
