It was VERY bad before then...and not much better after when the only high spot might have been that July 4 game when RP Rick Camp hit a game tying HR in extra innings.

I think by that statement you are saying that all ATL fans didn't care. I am not one of those fans. if you knew me a lot better which you don't, you would know that.
This is not a "dark day." In the grand scheme of things to most MLB fans, this is a cloudy day. Not many teams can go to the playoffs every single year. It's because Atlanta fans are spoiled that they think this is a "dark day." I'm an Atlanta fan, but I realize things aren't going to be great every year. If you've kept up with the organization at all you knew this was coming. The organization drafted and signed a bunch of young Latin players because they thought they could get them cheaper than the American born players. Their farm system is nowhere near as good as it used to be. No farm system means no Major League success.
