Glavine is a good pickup. Having another experienced pitcher on the staff will really help the young guys like Davies, Reyes, James and Carlyle.

i'll take santana over peavy...everything looks better to me....i consider santana's year last year a bad year...that was still a sub 3.5 era...in the AL...

both are in pretty nice parks for pitchers...

Ill take Peavy....just cause he is two years younger and i don't think he has peaked yet.....Santana could be very dominant in the NL though...

santanas ability to keep guys off base is amazing to me which is why i took him...

peavy may be younger but his arm only has only around a hundred innings fewer than santana...

peavy had an awesome year but i don't think 2 years ago was a fluke either...

Peavy's slider is by far the best I've ever seen. It is wicked. The down side is 2006 is the first totally injury free year he has had.
I think Santana has already leveled off and Peavy could still get better.

Thanks for that. My point is that with four experienced pitchers in Hudson, Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux, they can be a great help to the up and coming starters that not only are already with the big league club but also come up from Double and Triple-A like Reyes, James, and Buddy Carlyle.

I meant James...in any case, the Mets made their big splash picking up Johan Santana. Would I have liked to see him come to Atlanta? Well yeah...I mean having Glavine, Smoltz, Hudson and Santana as the first 4 (Maddux is in San Diego and will be for 2008) would be huge. But I think again the price would have been very steep in prospects and also in that he wanted a long term extension. Also, the question of will he still be pitching at as high a level as he has been 7 or 8 years down the line.
