the more I look at their board the more I want to post on it...then I look at their board some more and see it's not even worth it....that design is awful, they need Mom to help them

I'm not an artist or web designer..just a basketball fan. But is the design really that bad (honest question)?? I know it is somewhat vanilla, but I figured if I tried to tweak it, there's a good chance it would get ugly...I'd rather have boring than ugly. But honestly, you're the first to mention to me that it is awful, so I'm just making sure you really think it is, or just saying that because it is a WU board.

But anyway, WU's playing well right now. The team has improved over the course of the year as the young guys have started to get comfortable with the system and with the senior veterans. They aren't as consistant as last year's bunch, but their peak performances have been just about as good...and the last few wins have been without Antwon Harris in the lineup either. To me, it's a three-team race, and the difference could come down to which of the top three is able to win at the gym of one of the other top three teams...

Which reality is that? The fact that the team has won 7 titles in 9 years? The fact they've beaten more ACC teams this year than last? Last year's team was a missed tip in from being beaten at HP, and a 3 pointer at RU. It takes a good team and good fortune to go undefeated, no matter who you are. They have been more inconsistent this year, but they've achieved very similar results considering they played a tougher schedule.

All the WU fans just realize they are very good, if that is arrogance so be it. I don't see anything that tells me they have taken any step back, and don't see anything in the future that would prevent it either. I'm sure all of you think and say the same about your women's team.

The thing that about that thread that got my pannies in a wad is that some posters over there claim that because Winthrop's margin of victory is better than ours in conference, they are supremely better than us. That's bogus. The only way you can compare two teams is head to head competition. We only have one game to go off so far, and in that one game we proved we can compete with you on your floor.

Margin of victory doesn't mean a lot in general, and is particularly irrelevant in a situation like the Winthrop blowout over VMI, when the Keydets had no time to prepare to compete w/o Reggie. I think the conference is much more balanced this year, and would not be shocked to see any one of 5 teams win the conference tourney: Ashville, Winthrop, LU, HP or VMI (with a healthy Williams). The Eagles still have to play LU at home and 2 with Asheville. If they can get through that gauntlet unscathed, I will believe they are still a notch above the rest of the BSC.

I would be shocked if VMI or HPU won it. Obviously in the case of the latter, there had to have been some incident where Lundy couldn't make it to the game.

I think you misunderstood... the margin of victory thing was just a fun little stat. It doesn't really have much to do with why we are supremely better than you. But really... Winthrop fans think they have the best team in the Big South. Is that really bad? If you want to see someone who doesn't think very much of his team, join the High Point board and read Ian's stuff. Winthropfans isn't perfect (there are some idiots and the moderators are highly underpaid) but all in all it's not so bad.
