No, I did not see the game and I'll admit that not shaking hands is classless...however, its not like VT is the only school thats ever had a bball team act with little class at some point.

um, yes... see, this whole post on the thuggish behavior of basketball players (i really think its part of their DNA) and their inability to actually back ANYTHING up - other than constant one-upping attempts - is the main reason why i DESPISE basketball at any other time than the month of march...

its is also the reason why WRESTLING is what the men do during boys basketball season... lets see... hard work, personal responsibility, mental toughness, no one to blame but yourself for a bad performance, lets not forget hard work, class and sportsmanship... yeah, those are all things i see in wrestling at every level and happen to see lacking in basketball at EVERY level from HS up to the NBA... just my $.02

I don't know if i've ever heard a more ridiculous statement in my life...I forgot that every wrestler that has ever lived is second only to Jesus in being perfect

sweeping generalization... um not quite...

why is it that EVERY year there are incidents at basketball games HS->NBA. dont believe me, they are all over espn. yet at the same time, you NEVER hear about the same type of thing in wrestling?

Just to be fair, i only included stories that have happened so far THIS MONTH involving basketball. (the two at the very bottom are just for kicks and giggles) you can thank me later that i didn't included EVERY clip of every fight in the history of the NBA or this post would continue ad infinitum....

Rubber Mallet, bwahahaha...

actually, wrestling is very popular in many states, including VA, OH, PA, NJ, MI, NY, VT, GA, FL, NC, SC, TX, OK, IA, NE, CA, AZ, etc...

just because you don't like the fact that you were owned on the thuggishness and propensity of basketball games to break out in fights because of the nature of the people participating and attending and their inability to respect other people, don't take it out on a sport that turns out MEN, instead of crybaby wanna-have-everything-handed-to-them-on-a-silver-platter-afraid-of-a-little-hard-work-and-actually-having-to-earn-something-mammas-boys

FACT!

cheers :D

so wrestling is now more popular then basketball??? come on now...the media reports what people care about....more people care about basketball so therefore they are going to report more on basketball...I can tell many stories of the wresters from my high school getting in trouble with the law...but you probably wouldn't hear of it...

and postman,

actually, MOSt mma guys are very high class, many with graduate degrees, etc...

unfortunately, the media is WAY behind the times and still likes to focus on the thug element that likes the sport. case in point, the ultimate fighter on spike tv. however, a little known fact about that show... the UFC only gets to choose 5 of the gys in the house. spike chooses the other 11 (mostly based on their ability to create 'drama').

however, if anyone has never been to an event and met the fighters (and you've got a great chance with rumble by the river, feb 9th, the lynchburg armory, doors open at 6pm, gen adm is just $20) you would find that almost all of them are great guys. in fact, it is VERY common for guys to go out to eat, or have a few drinks after they get done fighting each other. there is a deep respect for the other guy and many times guys that have fought will train together, etc...

i know that i am good friends with both of the guys that i fought last year, one of which jumped at the chance to be on the card for the fights here in town. and, btw, he owns two businesses in charlotte.

so, if you do a little digging and find out who these guys really are, you will find that 99.9% of them are really great guys and would give you the shirt off of their back. i currently have about 23 standing offers to go down and train with guys for a week or so at different places all over the country, including a couple of pro fighters. thats not something you find in many other sports.

dude...my 3 best friends in highschool were wrestlers....2 went to university of iowa and 1 went on to play football at wisconsin...

1 was a supposed olympic hopeful before me met his lady...mary jane..

i know wrestling fairly well and all the "hard work" thats involved...

list of peopel i regularly got high with...

hs wrestling team...check
state of iowa wrestling team....check

the reason you don't see
crybaby wanna-have-everything-handed-to-them-on-a-silver-platter-afraid-of-a-little-hard-work-and-actually-having-to-earn-something-mammas-boys
in wrestling (other than the few who are olympic) is because after college there is.......nothing.......these guys now have regular jobs...or are beating the tick out of each other in bars and calling it brazilian juijitsu...

the same thing can be said about basketball players...the media never focuses on the good going on in the sport....it doesn't sell as well....that isn't just in sports...thats everything.....I am glad you just made my point for me....I appreciate it...

fyi...we had a local school that had a few players with mrsa and they were on the wrestling team....it was back page news....on both newspapers....noone cared...if it had been basketball it would of been different....

i think wrestling is great....but meatheads and their thinking that its the greatest sport known to man is hilarious....
