I started that post about the dream conference, and then I deleted it because after reading it a little while later it sounded snobbish. I didn't mean for it to be, and was just trying to get some conversation going because the board was virtually silent. I wasn't trying to be an a**; Davidson, Furman, Citadel, and Wofford are all schools we've played consistently in the past. As for the others, my cousin went to law school at Samford, I loved Richmond when I went there in 9th grade, and I've always liked VMI.
There are other things I want to set right. All PC alums are proud of their school and its academics, which are very good. We're proud of our great professors and programs, and in talking to my friends in grad school at Southern California, Princeton, Duke, Penn State, Georgia and elsewhere, we've all found that we've been prepared and that grad school hasn't been much harder than what we've gone through at PC. I concede that some people, including myself, have sometimes taken pride for alma mater and turned it into snobbery. So I apologize for that if that's how some of us have come across. I'm still trying to figure out if the guy who posted the "Harvard of the South" comment was serious or not.
Concerning our entrance into DI, a good many of us, including erroneous, Swiss, and myself have kept our feet on the ground. For us, Clemson, Army, Coastal, and [if I remember correctly] the first game against Radford were close basketball games; we were in them until the final few minutes. This whole process is big for us, as we're so small and relatively unknown nationally. For us to be playing Ohio State and Wake Forest instead of Mars Hill and Tusculum is pretty cool. So, to wrap it up, sorry for coming across in a displeasing way. I don't want PC to be the school everyone loves to hate, although it's probably already the case.
