Pitchers are some of the biggest users actaully. The risk of injury is there much more, BUT the increase in velo. can be dramatic in some. Some guys it affects them none, but others I have seen a jump as high as +7-8. Also, some of the biggest users of steroids are speedsters. I remember everyone was shocked when the guys like Matt Lawton, and Alex Sanchez were supsended, but the guys like that are huge users, in order to to help their "fast-twitch" muscles on the bases and OF, not just the muscles for hitting jacks. Just so you guys know too, this isn't confined to MLB, over the past few years, it has been very rampant throughout college ball unfortunately........

Hold My Own wrote:the only reason it would be hard for me to believe that they stopped after AAA is b/c the testing in AAA was 10000 times harder than the MLB at that time...I really cant fault people using it for injuries, this stuff is out there because when used for the right causes it actually helps and is safe and can be prescribed
You'll get differing opinions from Doctor's on whether it's safe. I certainly understand why they are using it to recover from injuries. Short term, it appears to be safe. After all, millions of dollars are at stake.

Doctor's do prescribe HGH and steroids for serioius health conditions. But usually the reward outweighs the risk. For baseball injuries I'm not sure it does...except in terms of dollars and cents.
