But who stays in the same house with their dead wife and kid for two days? He had to have had something wrong with him.

Think about it, you kill someone in a fit of rage. You realize your mistake, you are going to call the cops and say Oops I am sorry. Probably not, you don't have many options, other then take your life or go to jail in shame. You are in a corner and not too many choices

But you wait two days to kill yourself?

Chris Benoit was one of the guys that was never implicated in steroids.

I just think that all of the bumps he took (and he took some BIG ones) messed his head up and he had some psychological stuff going on.

Even worse, some people are reporting he killed his wife on Saturday, his son on Sunday, then himself on Monday.

Yeah SJ that seems to be the story most people are reporting...this is very sad to me...

I was listening to ESPN radio and I don't know who it was, but he was trashing wrestlers and wrestling fans saying they are all idiots and that there is no doubt in his mind that every wrester currently wrestling is on roids...and then went on to say that they don't even test wrestlers for roids....which is of course not true...they do...but of course this isn't a real sport so they aren't going to look at it the same way as pro sports do...they will punish them, but thats about it....look at all the actors and actresses doing drugs and such...nobody says anything about that....yes, there are problems but this guy was completely ignorant to anything and basically making light of the whole situation...it made me pretty angry...

anyways, the whole situation sucks and nothing to make light of....

Steroids were found in his house, prescriped by a dr. But it doesnt matter whether legal or not legal the experts on TV said this could be the result of roid rage. He put a bible by his son and wife after he killed them. He could have been drinking along with the roids, and other medicine being taken at the time.
DA in Ga, said he bound his wife's feet and hands and strangled her on Friday, his son either that night or the next morning and he took his life Saturday night.
They are speculating the text msgs he sent to friends were verses from the Bible.
Also for a WWE wrestler to avoid steroids testing or ban is to have a prescription by a Dr. Lets see if the WWE starts to crack down on their wrestlers.

The following is purely speculation: I've read on a couple of other sites that his wife had her own mental health issues and she's the one who killed their son. They say that she then called him, he killed her and then killed himself.

I have no idea what's true, but that's what I've been reading.

they cracked down for a while....then they were losing too many wrestlers and just started fining them....its a tough spot for sure....because the desire to make money sometimes outweighs anything else...I just can't believe it, becaue Chris is the last guy I would have thought to do this....I could start naming some of the people I would expect this from, but that is for another day

hmmm, very interesting....for some reason I would be more prone to believe that story more then the double murder suicide...but that is coming from a Benoit fan's perspective, so of course I want to think the best of him....either way its sad...and very shocking...

WWE website is trying to distance any steroid use and Chris's murdering rampage, at least until the toxocology report comes out

One flashpoint for fits of rage between couples is discovery of infidelity (especially among 'roid ragers.) The fact that he allegedly killed the kid is very dubious; unless he was severely psychologically damaged, it's less common that a father takes out his own flesh and blood.

Regardless, a tragedy all the way around.

A few new pieces of information have come out in this article....

In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Ballard indicated that the boy had needle marks in his arms. The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized.

That was only one of the strange facts that Ballard revealed. He said that two text messages of note caused authorities to investigate the house. In one, Benoit told somebody he knew that his wife and son were sick.

"Of course, they were dead," Ballard told ESPN.com.

In a second message to a neighbor, Benoit said that the door of the house was open and the pets were outside.

"And our assumption is that that was an effort to try and get somebody to come find the bodies after the suicide," Ballard said. "That is our assumption."

This story just get worse as each day goes by....

He said Benoit's 43-year-old wife was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, and her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Daniel was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, and his body was found in his bed, the district attorney said.

Benoit, 40, apparently hanged himself hours later, Ballard said. His body was found in a downstairs weight room hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment.

The prosecutor said it appeared the wrestler remained in the house for up to a day with the bodies.

The boy had old needle marks in his arms, Ballard said. He said he had been told the parents considered him undersized and had given him growth hormones.

"The boy was very small, even dwarfed," Ballard said.

I ripped this off from Bill Simmons yesterday. It's a list of the famous wrestlers who have died before the age of 65 just since 1985. It's unbelievably long.

thanks for that link with the list on it. i wonder what the deal is with that von erich family? they have 3 wrestlers with that name on that list. it's just sad looking at that list. I only watched wrestling for about 4 years but I recognize at least half those names!

The Von Erichs here in Texas have been the subject of a number of documentaries and special reports. If you're not old enought o remember Kerry and his family then you missed what many to be considered the greats of the sport. Some of the Old Hags will bear witness.

The combination of steriods and way too much time on th eroad (which leads to alcohol & drug abuse) is a deadly combination for athletes in a thrill sport.

Money quote:
However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:

Wow, this is even more sick than I thought. If you haven't read it somewhere, his kid was mentally handicapped, I believe the terminology is he had the fragile X syndrome. He most likely was undersized, he was MENTALLY HANDICAPPED.
