I really don't know about this one. Winthrop should be around a 10 or 11, but they got a tough draw. I thought ND would be a 5. Should be a good game.

I would say ND by 15 points over Winthrop.

I like the match-up. Winthrop has problems with athletic post men. Major conference teams with guys like that usually spell defeat. ND has none of those. They have good shooters, but Winthrop is a very good perimeter defensive team. The ND big guys won't command any doubles in the post, so WU will have a good shot at this.

they better guard those threes or else it will be a long night for the eagles.

ND could go cold from downtown though. I like the matchup too. I agree with Realist that WU has trouble with athletic 4's and 5's but ND doesn't have those. They have bruisers underneath and Bradshaw and Williams can bang with the best of them. I think this is a good draw for the Eagles and I think their seeding was fair as well.

ND has 7 shooters who are shooting 39% or better even as high as 47% from the perimeter. If 2 shooters should go cold for example then they have even more on the bench who can pick them up.

That is a lot of shooters that you have to worry about...WU can fill it from downtown too. ND reminds me of West VA with all those 3 point shooters. Usually a tough team to knock out...We shalls see.

If they go cold, WU has a great shot to win the ball game. If not then it will be tough for WU to win. So should winthrop pound the ball in the paint? I think so especially if ND doesn't have those athletic 4 or 5 players (haven't seen ND play much). The inside game could be to WU's advantage.

This is a tough match for WU. Tennessee was a better draw last year in terms of matchups. I thought the Vols were seeded way too high and I thought WU had a better overall team. ND is not easy to score on inside. There will be a lot of fouls called because both sets of big men play physical. The officiatiing will be a factor. I am going with WU though. This conference is overdue for a win in the tourney and WU has been close enough to figure it all out.

I think tempo will dictate who wins. ND plays one of the fastest paces in the nation and WU one of the slowest. As for the many 3-point shooters, yes, they shoot a good percentage, but Falls and the SG take the majority of them. If they go cold or get shut down, they will have problems.

I also like that ND is relying on a freshman pg.

I agree with the others on here that the committee didn't do the Eagles any favors. Tough matchup that GM will have to really coach well to win.

anybody else notice or care that WU got eliminated today courtesy of a pretty good if unheralded Oregon team: 75-61

Oh, I thought you meant GMTM's ex-girlfriend, or Jenn Sterger, or some other Jen.

Way to specify.

I've NEVER seen him called "Jen" before. Do you two have some type of special relationship?

Jenkins did not have a good shooting night either night, made up for it in the Notre Dame game with 11 assists. He got in foul trouble early and only played 7 minutes in the first half. Couldn't get going after that.

Oregon did a great job preparing. They were weak in the post but were able to nullify that advantage by doubling down with their tiny guards---they exploited the fact that Bradshaw holds the ball too low or puts it on the floor too much when he's in the post. That enabled them to harass him all game. I also think WU had a let down after finally getting that first win.

By the way, I would be remiss if I didn't congratulate the Winthrop fans on this board on their win over Notre Dame on Friday. I didn't see the game, but appears you guys just totally dominated us. I was disappointed that you guys didn't beat Oregon.

I expect the Marshall rumors to kick into high gear at the Final Four. Hopefully we have everything sewed here so we dont get caught up in the mad rush for a head coach like everyone else.
