App driving and cough up the ball for the SECOND time today. Montana St playing some STOUT defense for the last 15min after a shaky start.

app wins big in the 2nd half 38-17, and a matchup against youngstown in boone next week. Umass will travel to montana next week in the other semifinal.

another odd thing about the APP game- alot of what I'm assuming are visitor seats (?) on the far side are empty. Strange for a time that draws as many fans as they do, at HOME, in the playoffs, on national TV, and they can't sell it out?

App only has one section for visitors. They set a playoff record last week for attendance. Students have to pay for tickets and finals are coming up so those are two reasons they probably didn't have as many. Plus, as dumb as it sounds, a couple frats/sororities had initiation and semi-formals yesterday. Frats/sororities, especially at App, make up a good amount of people (they have like 14 frats/sororities).

the place looks identical to my local HS stadium, which is in the middle of the sticks up here. In fact, add in purple field hockey lines and you've got the same field as I jog on (well- used to)

App has always used Kidd Brewer for soccer. You can watch videos on the old astroturf and they've got soccer lines. It's just how they do things.

They probably do, but it's simply not feasible up there. With the weather that they get, they save a ton of money by putting in the turf instead of having to resod every year.

appy and UMass for the title on friday in chattanooga. i only got to watch the first half, but appy's freshman QB was outstanding!

I'm picking UMass for the hardware. App has some incredible athletes but UMass' defense is just outstanding.

evidently the refs had it all wrong, and it wasn't the blowout we all watched- in fact, Coastal oughta be in the championship game this weekend.

You guys can say what you want, but I strongly feel if there was one more quarter left to be played in that game, we would have made a great run for it.
Heck, if the fumbled kick return would have been called correctly, we would have been right in the game. That's just one call. If you couple that with an uncharacteristic endzone drop by Santini Washington, we are neck and neck down the stretch.

Not only do I think we could have competed with any other team in the play-offs, I think we were the second best in the crowd, at least 3rd best (giving UMass benefit of the doubt). We had a mental lapse in the first half because of the experience we had in Boone the first time we played them. I realize that very few of you even see it the way I do, but I know without a doubt that it would have been possible to win the National Championship with this team.

BigDaddy over there has a serious case of Teal Kool-Aid 'stache. They were down 31-0 at halftime. Yeah, they were close.
Some of those guys are impressed by the 28 points they scored in the second half but Appy was pretty much coasting to a home playoff win by that point and 28 wouldn't have won BigDaddy the first half let alone the game.
Incidentally, one of the calls he's referring to is WR Washington catching the ball in the air in the end zone, then losing control when he hit the ground. The ref ruled -- correctly, I might add -- incomplete pass.
Don't get me wrong. I think Coastal was extremely talented this year. They deserved to be in the playoffs and, if not for the playoff committee's somewhat controversial method of geographic pairings, there's a few matchups where they would have had a decent chance of advancing to the second round. But, the A10 is a much better conference than some of those guys over there are willing to give them credit for and is easily, top to bottom, a better conference than the SoCon.

Which brings me to...
I pick UMass b/c App is running a rookie, albeit wildly talented, QB and UMass' defense is freakishly good. Their D is as good or better than Wake Forest's D, in my opinion. UMass running game is also strong enough to keep Appy's O sitting on the sidelines for most of the game. To shut down Montana at Montana last week was just an unbelievable feat and, not to sell Appy short, but I think UMass won the title last Saturday. The date in Chattanooga is just a formality.

UMass came out strong but its pretty much been all App since. 14 unanswered points and that no-huddle Offense is giving the Minutemen fits.

UMass has outscored their opponents 29-0 in the 2nd half thru the playoffs, so look to see the adjustments they've made in the lockeroom this half
