Running back Samkon Gado, released Tuesday by the Houston Texans, told FOX 26 Sports Wednesday he has been claimed on waivers by the Miami Dolphins.

"It means a lot," Gado said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "In our profession what a player wants to know the most is, does he have value to a team. So being picked up on waivers rather than becoming a free agent is a big deal."

Though he's happy with being picked up, Gado still regrets leaving the Texans.

"I have mixed emotions because everything happened so fast," Gado said. "This is very difficult. I really felt I could have helped the team and coach (Gary) Kubiak. I really bought into his vision."

Gado has been through this sort of thing before. Last year he was waived by Green Bay and joined the Texans with the season already in progress.

"I think in some sense it does help you handle the emotions but it doesn't take away from the sting," Gado said. "I built relationships here and it doesn't make it easy to let go."

The Dolphins will play the New York Giants in London Sunday in the first regular-season NFL game played overseas, but Gado will not be with them.

"I will not be able to join the team because they are leaving for London tomorrow and I haven't had time to get my visa," Gado said. "I will be joining the team on Monday."

So Gado gets a brief vacation from the rigors of the NFL.

"My body will welcome it," Gado said.

Well there goes the talk that he might be at homecoming. We would've had possibly the two most famous LU football alum at the game this weekend.

He might be able to make it then. I doubt we'd foot the bill but he might come in to visit.

My informed sources tell me that they will either trade or release Ricky.

I really don't understand how he can be a 100 yard rusher, when given the chance in Green Bay in a year where Brett Favre was throwing INTs left and right, yet can't get onto the field in Texas. I really think he can be a solid starting back. Not a super star. But a servicable starter. He does have a case of the fumbles though. He needs to shake that. Anybody know the condition of Miami's O line?

He wouldnt allow LU to put him in a hotel room or pay for gas when he spoke at CFAW...I highly doubt he'll allow them to pay for anything if he comes...but keep in mind, he's now having to move so there are very hectic times for him I'm sure

What a great guy, I'm glad this ride isnt over for him yet

Samkon wasn't on the flights with me today from Houston. But it'd be great to see him. He's probably packing and heading to Miami.

This is a great turn of events for Sam. The Dolphins will give him some carries and he'll have another real chance to prove himself.

As for Ricky, there is some speculation that the Texans may be trying to swing a deal to bring him back to the Lone Star State. I wouldn't rule out anything.

don't let cfl stats sway you....if you've ever watched it its an entirely different game....offensive lines are so small....between the tackle runners are not usually successful....little charles robert type runners are the winners in that league...

We here in Miami are torn over Ricky. Most don't WANT him back but we do realize we NEED him back. I am so glad to see Gado get signed and hope the Phins give him a good shot. I just might have to go get me some tickets!!!

I agree with that fully but good Ole Wayne Hyzengia will never part with ticket sales. But for only $99 I can get 2 tickets with a program, parking 2 hotdogs, 2 sodas and a bag of nuts for the Bills game in 2 weeks. Thats for Corner Endzone Upper Deck. What a deal. Of course, when parkign usually costs $30, I gues only paying $69 for all the rest of the stuff isn't so bad.

Hit up stubhub or ebay....someone with season tickets will be unloading that package for less.....they would have to be....
