He's definitely in the running. Muschamp should be as well.

It's Kentucky and football, change won't happen until the end of the season. Not unless attendance gets so bad to the point that football is an expense generator rather than a revenue generator. At best all they will get is some mediocre at best interim coach, likely a current assistant, to finish the season if they did make a change now, and that would just be pointless. What I am hearing though is that they will pay whatever money it takes to get a good, known quantity coach there. Of course, since it's Kentucky, that means the'll have to way overpay for the coach, so I question if that is really true.

Yes, but they will have to start playing defense, go undefeated, and hope either Alabama or Oregon suffer a loss or two.
Alabama is pretty close to top flight on offense and has likely the best defense in the nation, Oregon is top flight on offense and good on defense, and WVU might have the best offense in the country but plays absolutely zero defense. If Baylor can score 63 on WVU, what do they think will happen when Alabama and Oregon are the opponent, they actually play defense and can go toe-to-toe on offense!
No coach or poll in their right mind would put WVU over Alabama or Oregon unless Alabama or Oregon lose. There are two sides of the ball, WVU only plays one. YOu can't put that kind of team ahead of another that plays on both sides.
ANd let's not forget the whole South Carolina factor. What they did to Georgia yesterday might have been the most impressive win of the season and they are the real deal.

And Samford might beat Kentucky on 11/17!
