Kudos to ULM for not having the typical letdown now that they're playing someone outside of the SEC/Big 12. They're up on Tulane 49-3 with 9:16 left in the 3rd quarter. The Sun Belt may actually have 3-4 quality teams this year.

I like offense, but I also like defense. But that just shows you the evolution of the game. That's why I like the SEC, although some teams have spread offenses, defense is still important.

Yes they are. SMOOTH and I want to see them play Oregon in a BCS Bowl. Although SMOOTH thinks the Mountaineers will be playing Bama in the Championship game.

That Texas vs OSU game last night rocked! Both QBs looked good, but Texas' DL has gaping holes.

The 4th down trick play OSU tried as last play of game was interesting, and almost worked...

Overall I'd say OSU had the better coach, Texas had better talent (though OSU's QB is good). Okay, except their defense isn't the greatest (okay, they did hold them in the red zone a couple times).

Will be interesting when Texas plays WV next week! WV obviously has no defense either, looking at the WV vs Baylor score...

The Mountaineers believe you win by our scoring your opponent not holding your opponent to fewer points than you! Also, your defense is going to get tired when your offense score within 5 minutes and you're back on the field!

Well, that sounds good in theory, but if you play a team with a great offense along with a really deadly defense that slows down your offense (like, say, Bama), suddenly having a poor defense becomes a huge down side.

I'm just sayin'... :)

Navy vs Air Force with the Falcons featuring some sweet black unis and helmets where the black stickers are all stealth bombers. Oh, and there's frost/fog rising off the turf and light snow flurries in the air. This is football.

That fog thing is pretty cool looking. I also like they have names of aircraft on the back of their jerseys. Army did something similar with Honor Duty etc on the back of theirs. Not sure what Navy could do similar

Duke plays VT next week then the Tobacco Road game against UNC, then their best chance to become bowl eligible after that is Miami the last week of the season

Georgia Tech is a very winnable game for them. Actually, VA Tech, GA Tech, and Miami all look winnable at this point.

At what point do we start considering Bill O'Brien for FBS coach of the year? He got handed an absolute crap sandwich and has that team 4-2 after beating a decent Northwestern team yesterday.

Does Joker Phillips get a chance to finish the season at Kentucky or do they cut their losses now?

ULM with another win yesterday by 14 at Middle Tennessee (a team that lost to McNeese St. but beat GA Tech by 21). If they run through the Sun Belt, not a given with solid teams in Troy, Louisiana, and Western Kentucky, is there a chance they sneak into a higher bowl than expected if someone like the B1G doesn't have enough teams to fill their spots?

If Bill O'Brien isn't coach of the year, then maybe it's Paul Rhodes. The job he's doing at Iowa State, of all places, is amazing.

Wouldn't it be fun if LA Tech runs their schedule, including the makeup game with aTm, and goes undefeated in the final WAC season? I'd love to see them make a BCS game simply due to the top teams mostly knocking themselves off every week.

Is WVU a legit national title contender? Texas isn't a great team, but they were definitely one I thought would trip up WVU. To get that win on the road was very impressive.

If WVU were to somehow play for it, why not due the full time travel thing and have Notre Dame as the opponent again? Brian Kelly is showing that ND still can be great, they just did a horrible job hiring coaches for a few years.

With that said, I expect Alabama vs Oregon, no matter what others do, if they both remain undefeated. People will get excited by Oregon again, but they're just not there physically yet.

On the FCS front, nothing quite sticks out like ND State romping over Youngstown St. 48-7. How in the world was that game not competitive?

Richmond is enjoying an immediate turnaround under Rocco.

Citadel has come back to reality after their ridiculous start and now Samford is starting to look like something to watch this season.

Teams better hope UC Davis doesn't figure out a way to sneak into the playoffs. They're very, very good and their losses are two FBS teams and two undefeated FCS teams (both close games).

He's definitely in the running. Muschamp should be as well.

It's Kentucky and football, change won't happen until the end of the season. Not unless attendance gets so bad to the point that football is an expense generator rather than a revenue generator. At best all they will get is some mediocre at best interim coach, likely a current assistant, to finish the season if they did make a change now, and that would just be pointless. What I am hearing though is that they will pay whatever money it takes to get a good, known quantity coach there. Of course, since it's Kentucky, that means the'll have to way overpay for the coach, so I question if that is really true.

Yes, but they will have to start playing defense, go undefeated, and hope either Alabama or Oregon suffer a loss or two.

Alabama is pretty close to top flight on offense and has likely the best defense in the nation, Oregon is top flight on offense and good on defense, and WVU might have the best offense in the country but plays absolutely zero defense. If Baylor can score 63 on WVU, what do they think will happen when Alabama and Oregon are the opponent, they actually play defense and can go toe-to-toe on offense!

No coach or poll in their right mind would put WVU over Alabama or Oregon unless Alabama or Oregon lose. There are two sides of the ball, WVU only plays one. YOu can't put that kind of team ahead of another that plays on both sides.

ANd let's not forget the whole South Carolina factor. What they did to Georgia yesterday might have been the most impressive win of the season and they are the real deal.

And Samford might beat Kentucky on 11/17!

There's a little Sun Belt scouting material for our eventual move up on ESPNU right now. Western Kentucky and Troy have both played quite well so far this year.

Paul Chryst is some kind of voodoo warlock genius. Nobody should be able to get this kind of play out of Tino Sunseri.

Good games so far with Louisville playing well against a Pitt team that seems light years better under Paul Chryst, Kansas State trying to deal with a well coached Iowa State team, Oklahoma just spanking Texas so far and Duke pounding VT in the 1st quarter.

36-2. Texas only needs 17 more returns of botched extra points to get back in this thing with the caveat of Oklahoma not being given points for the TDs that lead to those extra point attempts.

KState with a good road win over a tough Iowa State team.

Rutgers is somehow still undefeated.

Texas is embarrassing themselves publicly.

Ole Miss is handling a suddenly awful Auburn team 41-20.

Maryland has jumped on UVA 17-0 in the 1st.

Lehigh has snuck ahead of Georgetown 17-14 with 3:36 left.

Norfolk St. is finally on the board in the 4th quarter but is losing to a winless Hampton team, 21-7.

Youngstown St. is bouncing back from being donkey punched by ND State last week and leads at 5-1 Illinois St. 28-14 at halftime.

UNH won an extremely exciting game over Richmond, 44-40.

It's been a pretty intriguing day so far.

Some interesting FCS stuff so far today.

Southern Utah (2-4) 13-10 at Montana in the 2nd quarter.

4-1 Youngstown St. 28-28 at 5-1 Eastern Illinois with 5:54 left and EIU has the ball. YSU was up 28-7 in the 2nd quarter.

App. St. is up 21-10 at 5-1 surprise team Samford in the 3rd quarter.

ODU with a 14-10 lead over Villanova at halftime. It's absurd how quickly that program is being built.

ND State is finding it tougher going this week, after the ridiculous blowout of YSU last week, and is tied 3-3 at home against 4-2 Indiana State in the 2nd quarter.

A significant Big Sky contest sees undefeated Montana State up 10-0 at home against 4-1 Eastern Washington with less than a minute remaining in the first half.

Wofford gets a shot to prove they're for real tonight with a game at Georgia Southern at 6.

There's an interesting Southland matchup at 8 with 4-2 Central Arkansas at 4-1 McNeese State.

Oh, and CCU is tied with Stony Brook at the half, 14-14.

SB scores to make it 27-21 with 9:40 left if the 4th quarter. Missed XP for SB.

Indiana St. with a 10-3 lead in the 3rd quarter at ND State. That has the potential to be the biggest FCS upset of the week.

EWU has taken a 13-10 lead at Montana St. in the 3rd quarter. It may be upset week in the FCS.

William & Mary is playing another tough game at JMU but the Dukes have come back to take a lead of 17-14 in the 4th quarter.

It looks like Nevada will avert disaster after overcoming a 31-14 halftime deficit against UNLV to take a 35-31 lead in the 4th.

UNC is showing that no defensive coordinator ever learns how to play at the end of the game. You don't rush 3 and drop 8 with a 4 point lead even if the backup QB is in. It's the wrong decision even if it works.
