notajerry- boy are you fired up! Did your mom design the stadium, or something?
Since you are obviously older and much wiser than I previously assumed, I will officially change my position. I now deem the Allen high school football palace a wise investment. I estimate that it will recoup the 60M as well as the other millions spent on the surrounding complex by the third game of its twelfth season. Also- please remind me of how you so deftly challenged my assumptions and put me back into the path of wisdom if we ever disagree on anything else. If you want me to, I can change my opinion on the much discussed civic center in lynchburg- just pm me.

I'll spell it out for you Rogers....

60 million dollar football stadium in football crazy Texas in a wealthy suburb of Dallas = good idea

90 million dollar off campus civic center in the middle of nowhere Lynchburg, VA = bad idea

We're not saying all public projects are good...but high school football in Texas seems about the surest bet possible.

And just like the two folks I have on ignore, instead of acknowledging the points where you were clearly wrong (like McAllen vs Allen), you just go off on some sarcastic rant to show a massive lack of maturity, integrity, and humility. It's a shame that there are people like that on a board like this where the vast majority behave themselves in a way that is far above and beyond the typical internet message board.

Wrong on one point. Thanks for showing me how to be humble and gracious! You have run some numbers in your head, maybe, but folks in Allen aren't all sold on the project either. Just because you are anonymous doesn't mean that others can't have opinions and state them without some smarmy know-it-all telling them how wrong they are. Nothing you have said is more than conjecture, and the same goes for what I have said. I doubt if anyone thinks about this any differently, so I'll stop beating the dead horse.

This from the one who argued that net assets equals cash. This conversation reminds me of that one!
Not really pro-civic center... NAJ correctly noted my sarcasm.

What's amusing to me is that you have never proved me wrong in anything NAJ. You sit and whine like a 3 year old when someone has a differing opinion then you. Often I am wrong, and I'm man enough to admit it when I am. How about you? You're in your 40's, but lack the rationality to have an honest conversation?

Let me explain something to you. (and btw, I know you still read my comments.) When I joined in 2010, I came with the same attitude and arrogance you presently display. Well, even when I was right, people despised me, and I don't blame them. I now know that you must treat others with respect, or you will never be respected or taken seriously when you need to. You need to learn that. Take for example logic. We disagree on almost everything, but I respect his opinions and his vision, although we have differing views on what it is right now. It's nothing personal. But with you it is.

While I enjoy all the humor that you bring this board for me daily, I just thought I'd give you once chance to learn the way it works.

Besides, if I said what I really think, Sly and Scorcho would ban me for all eternity :D

I do think that it is cool to have a part in your sig! Finally, the off-season has paid some dividends.

The "two resident blowhards" he mentioned were Haize and I. I could add you in but then that would become selective editing.

But, you can be an honorary resident blowhard if you wish! :D

They voted and 63% approved. Welcome to democracy. I didn't run the numbers in my head, I used what was already available in the article. It's really not that difficult to be objective/accurate instead of ranting like a child and adding a myriad of exclamation points the roughly equate to stomping your feet.

We've got 600 million in cash and another 250 million in investments at "fair market value..." Pure cash coming in at around 250 million a year when looking at total revenue minus expenses, the majority obviously fueled by the online program. Do with that information what you will.

Outside of Texas, absolutely.

Texas is a different world completely. I don't pretend to understand it as I only go to local HS games if their are prospects that Liberty has some interest in, but there's something community related to HS football in that state that I almost want to go to a game once just for the experience.

As I said before, I almost took a radio job in TX, but my sisters live in the Dallas area and they can attest that entire towns shut down as soon as work is over so everyone can go to a game, home or away

My brother-in-law's brother is a coach in a rural Texas school. When we were talking about it, he said the only way he could describe the atmosphere/attitude is to say that King of the Hill was more of an animated documentary than a cartoon.

This is one of the dumbest quotes I've ever seen on FF. You don't have to live in Texas to be a fan of good local high school football or get behind your local team. There are countless high schools around the nation that have fantastic local followings. I still support my old high school football team - why not? I went to school there and still have pride for the school and program. High school was a great time and I have no shame supporting my old alma mater.

Honestly I didnt start regularly going to HS football games until I went to military school (and thats only because I was the manager for the team). My school wasnt big enough to support a team and I couldnt get out to any of the games for the local teams either. Course now I broadcast games so I get to see the support from the Amherst County and now Gretna folks weekly.

Not so much... It isn't wrong to express an opinion, but I doubt if anyone here really cares deeply where Texans put their money. Replying to a post on a message board in Virginia about a project in Texas does not equate to telling Texans how they should spend their money.
