The ESPN analysts are terrible. There's a reason why they are working on TV instead of for a football team. Mel Kiper has been openly mocked by NFL GMs on the air because he's so clueless.
Maybe some of the ESPN crew can take a step up and go write for Bleacher Report.
Try watching the NFL Network feed for draft coverage. You'll be surprised by the amount of actual football knowledge and legitimate discussion/debate about picks.
The Redskins upgraded the starting and 3rd QB spots. Cousins will likely develop into a good backup at least. They didn't sacrifice anything as they came out of the draft with 3 OL, 2 DB, 1 RB, and 1 OLB/ILB thus hitting all the positions of need along with the 2 QB. That followed on the heals of upgrading WR substantially and solidifying the OL, DL, LB and DB spots in FA. They even potentially upgrade kicker in FA.
Beck has already been released and taken his 16 sacks suffered in 3.5 games with him. Beck leaving upgraded the OL and the QB spots.
All this nonsense over a 4th round pick. A player that, as 4th round picks go, teams hope can contribute at some point in year 2 or 3. If they had taken a QB in the 2nd, then there would be a valid argument against it. Instead, they spent the 102nd overall pick on a guy that most boards had listed in the 50s.
The fact that there's debate about this from the TV clowns shows that they're more interested in creating drama than doing analysis.
