I think Louisville will beat WV, because of last years loss in triple overtime. Bush is an underrated running back..

Pat White (QB, Soph., West Virginia)
Yes, Pat White is only a sophomore, but what he is capable of doing this year at the quarterback position for the Mountaineers puts him in a pretty enviable position in this Heisman Trophy race. If success at quarterback is based mostly on leading your team to victory, then White could end up the most successful quarterback in college football because West Virginia may have the best chance to end the season undefeated.

White is, hands down, the best running quarterback we have seen in college football in the last decade, and he operates the most cutting-edge spread option offense in the land. If he can develop his vertical passing game – forcing the secondary to focus on pass defense and run support at the same time – look out college football and look out Heisman Trophy.

Somehow I can't get the theme from DELIVERANCE out of my head
Deliverance was filmed in Georgia. Which is funny since we beat them in the Sugar Bowl :D
Chris Henry and Pacman Jones. 2nd year in the NFL this year and 6 arrests between the 2 of them. A fine tradition they have going there at WVU
I know a lot of people on this board like VT. Why don't you ask them about football players being arrested.

I'm from WV and I get tired of hearing all the stupid jokes, so all joking aside this should be a very good year for WVU. Expectations are very high. This is the most talented team we've had in years. IMO I think WVU will go to a BCS game but not the national championship. Anyway I enjoy reading this board and hope LU has a successful season.

I make fun of VT all the time. I'm sorry you get tired of the WV jokes but we gotta pick on somebody. France and Canada are also good choices but they don't apply here.

Maybe it's good that you all make fun of WV. I've been reading this board for awhile now and since everyone was talking about WV I finally decided to sign up. :)

welcome anderson. WV will always get picked on ...everywhere! it does not really matter if deliverance was filmed in georgia.. but if that makes you feel better, then im happy for you. if WVU really does win the national championship, i will sing your praises, and if you don't you will still get picked on!!!! again welcome to the family! :D

I think WVU has a pretty good chance. It depends on how other teams do. I think WVU will go undefeated...if a lot of the other potential BCS teams have 1 loss, it might push WVU into the title game. We'll see.

Seriously, how overrated is Notre Dame??? I really can not see them competing with WVU, USC, OSU, Auburn, Texas, and really most of the other top 25 teams. If they were not Notre Dame I guarentee you that they would be lucky to be in the top 25 after that thrashing Ohio State gave them last year.

I'd also like to mention that jmdickens is a very wise man. Pat White is truly an amazing player, and one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the last 10 years.

USC will fall apart, Auburn will fall apart, Texas is too young to compete in the end...OSU has a shot but chances are will lose next week in Texas to possibly screw their chances....the more I have thought about it I think West Virginia has a very good chance at competeing for the national title...

As for ND being over rated...well the media is always high on ND its the way it is...are they as good as people make them sound?? probably not, but they are good and will compete for the title right down to the end....

This year is wide open, so its hard to write off anybody really...

I do think USC and Auburn are a shoe in for losing 2, possibly 3 games this year....thats my opinion and I am sure people will question it...ahh the beauty of message boards

If anyone would have opened the link, then they would have realized I got that from Terry Bowden. Pat White is good, and WVU will probably play in the national championship since Bush is out for the season at Louisville.

Had to jump in on this one. Most here know I am an avid Tech fan but I wanted to make a couple of WVU points here. I think WVU can run the table this year. Whether that's enough to get one of the top two BCS spots I don;t know. Offenseively WVU is loaded and the 3-3-5 stack they run on D is tough to prepare for. I think the BigEast and ACC are a toss up this year for the worst BCS conference. I honestly don't see a team from either league playing for a national championship this year. I know I will catch flack from my ACC bretheren but our league is bad this year people - got to watch talking smack to the BE. We're 1-2 head to head this year so far against the BE and I dont see Maryland beating WVU or UNC beating USF later this year.

I just wonder a) what the heck happened to Slaton's arm and b) how would the game have been different if he hadn't hurt it? I hate when things come down to that. Yes, I know a lot boiled down to WVU not stopping the pass, but with Slaton, that 7 minute drive would've been a 3 minute drive so there's basically 4-6 minutes in there (the other two minutes coming from drives he wasn't in on) where anything could've happened with that offense.

Over 1000 yards of offense in one game. Wow.

I would hardly say the moutaineers got slaughtered...considering Slaton missed a whole quarter of action, losing by 10 points to a very good team hardly seems like an embarassing loss to me. L'ville is a heck of a good team. I gotta agree with SJ, i'm not saying that WVU would have definitely won if Slaton wouldn't have gotten hurt, but it would have made a very big difference on the game if he would have stayed healthy.

excuses and what ifs......what about the fumbles?? one of them led to a touchdown. yes WVU outgained the cards, but really louisville dominated the game. national championship contenders do not turn the ball over like that.

pbow, you got to admit. WVU is not the best team in the Big East and Coach Rodrigez is going to love coaching UNC.....WVU was obvisously overrated from the very beginning of the season. They are a two person team, and despite their abilties, they can't beat a good team.

The two Slaton fumbles were obviously because he was hurt. The 1st, 2nd, and 4th quarter was good. I just wish the 3rd quarter was decent.

Dude, did you watch the game? He could barely hold onto a thing of prewrap with his left hand on the sidelines after that. I'm not a fan of either team. I watched the game and it was obvious his left arm was hurt for a while. Whether it was a stinger or pinched nerve I don't know, but he was hurt for a little bit.
