still not impressed with Tyrod as a passer. He made several atrocious throws down the stretch. He's another run first pass second guy and he's not Vince Young talented and neither is the rest of the Hokies. Tyrod is good for extending plays and breaking plays against tiring defenses, but he chokes in pressure situations especially that 3rd down throw way behind the WR. He's a good QB but all you heard was he's going to be better than VIck and a Heisman candidate when he got there. That being said he was a little overrated. Boise's QB Moore on the other hand, that's a guy that looked the part and was a stud. He steps up in the pocket when he needs too, throws well on the move. If he improves his arm strength and mobility just a bit he will be a future 1st round pick.

Not a very well executed game by either team but certainly a very entertaining one. Even though it hurts the Longhorns' chances of getting in the title game, I do like that this is yet another reason that a playoff system needs to be assembled. Of course next year BSU will be in the MWC which may have its own path into the BCS if the proposed C-USA alliance comes to fruition.

I'm a Tech fan and should be used to these big game collapses by now, but at least this one was exciting and down to the wire, but once again heartbreaking.

But I do feel bad that a friend of ours who is a Tech alum who took his 7-year-old daughter to the game for her BIRTHDAY. She's probably scarred for life and will need years of therapy. Crybaby

aside from a few exceptions this week was pretty boring and I doubt the nfl will have problems beating it...now week 2 of college football, that will be hard to beat

Honestly, I was pretty shocked that VT even mounted a come back in that game. I think they proved they are a legit top ten team.

Boise just looked like they had an NFL offense at times.

at least an nfl qb. The poise and confidence he had that last drive, unreal. completely unshaken by the pressure

I don't want to call you an idiot, because that is terribly rude and I don't know you, but this statement is asinine. Just because he goofed on one throw in the first game of the season, does not make him a poor passer. He was clearly the better QB in the game Monday night. I was there. Kellen Moore should have been intercepted four or five times. He is a good QB, but made some horrible throws throughout the whole game. Since VT has a younger defensive secondary (minus Carmichael) there were many blown chances at interceptions. Tyrod was accurate, precise, and poised the whole game. He wasn't perfect, but he was 12-14 176 yds and 2 TDs midway through the 4th quarter against the 3rd best team in the nation. No turnovers throughout the whole game. I've never been more impressed with Taylor in his 4 years at Tech.

spoken like a true hokie fan - with blinders on. The game wouldnt have even been close without the stupid errors some boise players made allowing for more yardage and several first downs to VT. Anyone who doesnt think Kellen Moore was the top qb on the field is either asinine or a complete VT homer.

You were not at the game. Moore had glimpses of brilliance (i.e. last drive), but he looked uncomfortable in the pocket with the pressure that Tech brought. He threw off of his back foot several times. Threw into double/triple coverage a few times. And simply just made errant throws throughout the night.

Moore - 23/38 = 61% for 215 yards and 3 TD's

Taylor - 15/22 = 68% for 186 yards and 2 TD's

Boise was handed the ball on the Tech side of the field numerous times, especially in the first quarter, where Moore scored twice and didn't have to move the ball hardly at all.

Taylor brought Tech into the game with his drives down the field. Boise had a stout D-line and would not allow the running game for Tech to get started at all, which put all the ball movement on the shoulders of Taylor, who brought his team back after being 17 down.

That's a terrible argument. I was watching the game on my laptop on my back porch and I guarantee you I had a better view than you did. TV views are better than where you were sitting at that game.

True. But how many times have you sat down to watch a game on TV and missed a play or several plays? Can't really miss a beat when you're actually there.
