the women will play where ever they can get people to show up. Often times, it winds up not being in any way fair.

UCONN is the only team in their way for them to win a championship but thats not going to happen. Cause Uconn will hand it to them.

Hope my Gators can play UConn within 20 Tuesday night....that would be a moral victory, and that is with Sha Brooks going for 30 or so for UF.

UConn is a machine, remind me alot of the 1991 UNLV mens team, unbeaten, unchallenged all year, then got into a tight game with Duke in the semi and didn't know how to react and choked, big time. Here's hoping the same fate awaits UConn at some point. Their coach is a real jerk.

Best chance of toppling UConn of any team in the tourney. What a championship game that could be.

Wow, there are a lot of upset lesbians in Tennessee tonight, who'll probably cry themselves to sleep in their flannel sweaters.

Ah yes... the Women's NCAA B-Ball tourny... where you know there will be no upsets and the its a surprise if the final four is ANYTHING other than all for #1's. Also the same tourny where you know there will be abominably low scores due to the chronic inability to score points and where many of the low seeds could be beaten by top HS boy's teams.

The talent level is so disparate that its almost pathetic to watch - and it's certainly boring. Case in point, was there any doubt that LU would win every conference game except maybe one or two this year? No. On the Men's side, a team has a good BSC year if they only lose 3 or 4 games. We beat Radford the last week of the season, and VMI consistantly put up 100+ points a game. There's a reason the WNBA might fold. Nobody wants to watch.

On the men's side, we had a 13 vs. 12 to decide a sweet 16 spot. When was the last time THAT happened on the women's side?

That is why, although Pat Summit seems to be pretty forthright and classy, to not buy into the hype about her being the greatest hoops coach of all time because of her 1000 wins, simply because of talent disparity, and how long it has taken the SEC, less the rest of the nation, to play catch-up in womens ball.

Seeing her win total in the same list with Smith, Knight, etc. makes me want to :vomit .

She doesn't belong on the list with mens hoops coaching legends, period. If Pat and that jerk up at UConn want to show their stuff, then go coach men at a mid-major or higher, they may last two years tops.

RM, in honor of that blast from the past, I'd like to thank the great Rich Roth for his contribution:

"If the NCAA WBB championship game was being played in my back yard................... I would close the blinds."

I'm taking a 15-minute break for lunch, and instead spending my time repsonding to this garbage.

It would be most beneficial to all observer's of women's basketball to consider this an entirely separate sport from men's basketball. This is not women playing men's basketball; in case of point, it is WOMEN'S BASKETBALL. When analyzed apart from men's basketball, the differences can be appreciated, and the game enjoyed for what it is, rather than what it is not.

That said, I'll challenge some of your assertions regarding the women's NCAA Tourney. You say "no upsets." In the men's tounrey's first round this year, 10 upsets occurred (according to seeding). The women's tournament had 8.

In the second round, the men's tournament had exactly 1 (#5 Purdue over #4 Washington). The second round of the women's tournament had 3, and it's only half-way complete (8 more games tonight. Tune in to ESPN2 at 7:00 pm.) Two 6's beat 3's, and a 7 beat a 2. (I'll grant that it was on the 7's floor.)

The parity in the women's game is arriving much the same way it did in the men's. The second tier teams are catching up quickly to the top tier. In time, as the game continues to grow, the mid-majors will catch the elites.

And finally, to make allusions to the NCAA Tourney being void of parity based on Liberty in the Big South is flat-out wrong. Liberty's RPI is currently 72. Coastal Carolina has the second best RPI at 242. To reference one comference as an example of the alleged domination of elite teams neglects the advances in parity being made within the game.

I was simply shooting holes through poor argumentation, and findling flaws with certain assertions.

The NBA is entertainment, not basketball. The same theory could be applied here. If you're only looking to be entertained, for some novice basketball observers, the men's game might just be the better thing. Stick with that.
