Well, let's hope that our school is not based soley on the behavior of our athletes!! We ALL have stories that are equal too if not "worse" then LIB's VMI stories. The point is VMI grads go to school and then get jobs, usually from a company/person of VMI heritage. Not a bad gig! Or they pursue a military career, not as prestigous as Annapolis or The Point but not bad either.

Actually I got up kinda early. I didn't go to sleep til around 2:30 and woke up around 10:15. We're replacing the shower in our rental house so we can sell it. I had to go down there and tear out all of the old tile (built in the 70's, it was rotted) and the boards behind 2/3 of it. Tomorrow we go reboard the walls and start putting new tiles up. Then we have to paint the tile in the rest of the bathroom.

The football stadium is on schedule. We know that the POD that will be placed beside the stadium on the Kilbourne Hall side for bathrooms and concessions will not be completed in time for the football season. The new synthetic turf practice field and improvements to Clarkson McKenna, locker room, training room and weight room, should be finished in time for the beginning of football practice in early August. The improvements to the stadium--all new seats, areas for handicap, new portals, new concession area in the concourse should be very functional and very attractive. The entrance gates, fencing, and ticket booths, both on the Cameron Hall side and on Main Street near Kilbourne will be new and will put a beautiful face on the facility. The stadium field and track will be repaired this summer and should be ready for the first game. A terrific new scoreboard will tie it all together. The scoreboard will have video capability for pre-programmed tape. We will have the flexibility to go to instant replay in later years if we decide to purchase cameras and develop a video operation facility."

So when are we getting a scoreboard......we have the video team.....i can't wait to see a pic of this and find out if thats hype or if this board is the real deal.

I don't think this was mentioned before, tryed to quickly scan the pages.

Its all a matter of priorities right now. The playing surface and ops center are much more important to the growth of the program at this point. The price of the jumbotron systems has come down enough taht it seems like nearly everyone of our larger high school stadiums in Houston is using them with instant replay and the like. So I would assume that we would probably have a system as soon as someone coughs up the cash.

As for the VMI improvements, all of the things mentioned in that posts are correct as best as I can see. They had one of their big alums from the DC area offer up a bundle of cash.

The generous Alumnus was Mr. Foster of Long and Foster Realtors. Donated a large chunk to the football program. They are spreading the money as best they can.

The field you were discussing earlier is the practice field with new SprinTurf installed. http://www.sprinturf.com/

Money is going to sorely needed upgrades to bathrooms, visiting team locker room, players weight room, practice facilities, seating (not sure much money is going into this), concessions, entryway, and I think even a new scoreboard.

There is only so much that VMI can do with the limited amount of space that is available, hopefully the changes will make a difference in the game day experience....although peeing in a trough in the circa 1880 Mens room has always been a part of that experience.

I think parking is in the long term plans, but I would not expect that to get any better anytime soon.....lots of stairs up on that hill.
