The new logo is awesome. It will take the whole conference to the next level. Instant recognition for all the schools--old and new--in The Big South Conference. Now we'll be able to keep VMI and Coastal, as the SoCon has nothing like it. Great job, Kyle!

Though to be fair, what else is the league commish supposed to say? One of his jobs is to put the conference in the best light possible, whether others believe it or not.

I think the orange stripe used to be cool. I think it was supposed to be a silhouette of the sun of the which was a throwback to the old serengeti looking logo. Now what is it? I can understand them wanting to keep the same look so why change it at all? Slanting everything forward does not make the conference look like it's "moving forward".

I understand what you are saying but this is really not about bashing the Big South or anything like that. I agree with you from the sense that KK has to say what he said but my criticism is that if you are going to change a logo or spend money on research to improve your image, the change should at least be noticable, good or bad. What is really different? It is over with now I guess but I would be surprised if we were a fly on the wall of the Big South office and we heard cheers and High fives being exchanged over this one.

Yeah, I agree with that, though this league is in better shape competitively in just about every sport than it was 5 or 10 years ago, so I just feel that while everyone on this board tends to point out every negative aspect (or hunts for negative aspects, ie. the resume of a conference PR assistant), that people tend to overlook that the league isn't all bad (at least from my perspective...maybe that's just me though). Even from the football perspective, 6 years ago, you guys were an independent...Now you guys have a league title to play for and at worse, the same chance of getting a bid to the playoffs (ie. you'll need to likely go 10-1 or 9-2 with some big wins) as you did then. Yes, the auto. bid would be nice, but considering this is a start-up football league, in a league that only had 3 members that even fielded a football team in the league 6 years ago, I think some progress has been made there.

When looking at the old logo next to the new one, the old one does look a bit cramped....
