I say we start our own conference and see who joins us! After all we must be leaders! Why lower ourselves by joining 'their' conferences when we can start our own!? And if nobody joins us we can have the best of both worlds: We will win the conference every year AND be an Independent!

That I agree with...that being said, we cant speak to anything definitive about our status as it relates to the process because we arent in the room with JB and all the folks that are part of that decision making process. we certainly can speculate, but thats all it is...speculation.

Here is the irony of ironies, and maybe one of the reasons we produce like we produce on the athletic fields and courts. We are in an admittedly weak conference which we are not focusing on winning but on leaving for the 'next level'. That is ok to an extent but with grammatical apologies to the newest Merrediths convert Cider Jim,we are NOT only NOT focusing on winning where we are we are NOT focusing on where we will land at the next level to focus on the NEXT step at the next level. So before we even make the jump to BCS we are looking to leave that stop and end up somewhere else. And we wonder why we have issues.

I was going off of JCManso, Blessed and Tally comments. You made no case for it and I lumped you in there. My bad. I don't have the skill to multi quote their comments but basically it was about the lack of difficulty in scheduling etc. I don't care to speculate on jumping out of a conference before we are even in a conference. It doesn't sound like the best way to make a case.

I agree with them that it would not be difficult to schedule as an FBS independent. The schedule would likely be poor, with a payday type of road game or 2, but it would probably be easily doable. I'd prefer, 5 years down the line, to be an FBS independent to being FCS still. I doubt seriously that it would happen as there seem to be enough schools in the East that are ready, or nearly ready, to move up now and I'm sure there would be more in a couple of years.

Being focused on the next level does not equate to not being focused on winning at the present. The focus IS the next level, but winning everyday in the present to get to that level.

Haize, I said take the WAC offer and worse case scenario we could go Indy if it doesn't work out for us. No Independent is not an ideal. But it is something we could do - as a worst case scenario - provided the WAC doesn't fit us long term.
