No, none of them would even remotely consider such a concept.

I've been trolling the boards at NM State, Idaho, Lamar & Sam Houston the past few days. Everyone seems to be stuck in limbo waiting just like we are.

It would appear at this point that 2013 is out of touch and 2014 is more realistic. Are those your thoughts Sly?

So...the WAC directors meeting is going to happen in Denver June-11-12. It is going to be exciting and possibly see if there is interest from the WAC to add App state, Jax state, Georgia Southern, and LU. I want to know to know if all of these FCS schools have the capital and commitment to make this happen.

The obstacles that the WAC can run into is getting 2 other schools to join us in the WAC if it happens. The WAC needs some mercy from the NCAA and get a waiver for more time to explore adding schools and in order to burn off some of the transition requirements. I know that I read in the Jax State article that sly posted on their move to FBS. Jax state's AD said that in as little as 2 weeks we may hear some news about possible expansion.

I know that LU wants an all sports move to the WAC but I am not sure the WAC would want to go down that road, (ie. Louisana Tech). Affiliate football membership would help us but our other sports would need another home to improve our competitiveness. I know that the WAC wants to survive as an FBS conference and Idaho and NMSU don't want to drop down because of pride and they are definitely on an island all by themselves. I hope that this works out for our FCS move ups and the rest of the WAC. Then after they get their football membership squared away, they will also start filling other schools for olympic sport membership with schools in the west like CSUB and Utah Valley.

I would love for LU to be part of the WAC and keep the bowl tie ins they currently have. The famous Idaho potato bowl and Poinsettia bowl. The Poinsettia bowl would be a 3 hour drive for me to San Diego or a short 1 hour to 1 1/2 flight to Boise. That is if we made it to the bowl games or to watch our conference mates playing in the bowl, most likely our FCS brethren. Here to the WAC fellas!

Hopefully, the June meetings will reveal a plan to move along with the Eastern FCS schools or "Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full".

I wonder if the NCAA will have to give us all kinds of wavers, would they allow just one year of transition?

Service academies would be great too.
Of course, I would also like to move to St. Simons Island (On a teachers salary).

It is because of the travel that I don't have enough of a life. But it should come as no surprise to anyone around here that as much as I have posted about realignment the past year or so that I would certainly be all into the process now.

As for waivers, the primary one would be for the second year of transition to allow FBS transitional games to count at FBS games in order to achieve full FBS status.

2013 looks extremely unlikely from where I am sitting. But I wouldn't completely rule anything out at this juncture.

1. Bleacherreport
2. 25 teams "WE" want to move up
3. Bleacherreport

As many times as it's brought up around here, everyone needs to know that bleacherreport is not a legitimate sports media site. It's user submitted content from people who think they are journalists. You could write an article about ND joining the big south and submit it. And it would probably be posted here by somebody. I think most of their "writers" think ESPN or SI will pick them up or something

I have watching all the back and forth on the realignment going on and one thing keeps coming up that I don't get. Why does everyone seem to want Coastal in their conference rather than us (aside from all the normal anti religious points of view)?

I think that's mainly FCS leagues want them instead of us. And that's because we're not staying FCS so what would be the point of inviting us. Also, people (fans) think Myrtle Beach is a good market to have.

My guess is they see more appeal in having a team near the beach than a team in the mountains (even though Myrtle Beach is #156 in the latest Arbitron rankings and Lynchburg/Roanoke is #114)

Nice WAC-E info from the WAC CSNBBS board
I don't know if it's a scoop but I got a reply from Jeff Caves (did the Benson interview) and he told me that Jax St, GS, App St, and Liberty have had joint, organized meetings over the past several weeks. He also said that no other schools have been mentioned. Nothing that we didn't already assume.

It is not the first time that the group has met.

We really need some of the other FCS schools to man up. I doubt Lamar will do it without Sam coming along. And even though they made it to the FCS championship game, SHSU can't make this move without significant investment.

The Big Sky commish is smugly taunting Idaho through the media about there being no other options for the Vandals except to drop down. I'd live to see his reaction to the WAC surviving.

I really am beginning to wonder if an ill-fated step up by a couple of HBCUs like Florida A&M and Alabama State might be our ticket to FBS. Otherwise we may be depending on the threat of a moratorium to get JMU, Delaware or Youngstown State to bite.

Sly,
How large does our pool of FCS have to be? With the 4.... How many others do they need? Just the 2 in order to get to 8 football playing schools?

FAMU will not be going to FBS status after they already tried once and failed around 2003. They don't have the money and probably will not for a long time after the parents get done suing them for their son's death in the marching band.
